Saxon Woods Golf Course

I played the course a few times last year. While the pace has always been slow, it was manageable. Played for the first time this year today and it was pretty awful. They were two groups in front of us that were all 40+ handicaps but playing off the blue tee. They held everyone back and there wasn’t a ranger to be found. The green was also in very bad condition. It was not only super slow but also very bumpy.

We couldn’t stand it and left after 12 holes.

After a meaningful investment by the County a few years ago, the course is playing fairly while providing a good test of golf for players of all abilities.

The staff is always helpful, friendly and available. The covered outdoor seating at the grill room makes for a pleasant respite before, after (or no round) a round.

Great day except for a foursome that was really slow! Didn't care looked for ball for 10 minutes. walked on other fairways, Group behind them quit after 15 so we passed them.

Given early season the course is is pretty good shape. Greens are rolling quick. Pins were a bit too close to the edge. Fairways, bunkers, tee boxes are all decent. Mind you this is a municipal course so don’t expect pristine or manicured. I’ve always liked this course as you need to be pretty accurate esp with greens that tend to slope. Driving range with plastic balls is okay. Wished there was more room for a real one. Clubhouse food is decent as well and half-way house person is always very kind. Pace of play can be a test of patience as it’s not a long course, and often people are playing as if for a prize and hacking around. But it’s a fun little course and I will continue to play it.

Place is excellent. Layout etc. only thing is the pace of play. Not horrible but could use a little help. Otherwise Saxon is great.

Short course though difficult to score as the greens were extremely fast and not receptive to approach shots and chips.

Decent muni, got 9 holes in about 2 hours 25 while walking.

One of the best greens condition wise that I have played recently. End of March weather is not kind to course conditions but Saxon Woods greens were fantastic. Fast and true. Don’t leave any downhill putts because your next putt might leave you a longer putt coming back.

The course itself is pretty short and the fairways and tee boxes were that great. Reason for the 4 stars.

Really nice as the course was relatively empty. Conditions surprisingly good.

Great golf course with good condition of the fairways and greens, and very good value for the money we paid.

First time playing Saxon Woods and would definitely play again. Starter wasn’t the happiest guy, but the rest of the staff was fantastic. Nice layout and the course was in really good shape considering we’re still on March!! Greens rolled real nice and fast which I loved. Looking forward to playing again once the course fills in. A definite play!!
