Fun course to play
Saxon Woods is always fun. It has just enough length and tricky holes to be challenging without beating you down. And the course has always been well maintained.
The grill and pro shop are both quite nice, with friendly staff.
The problem I’ve always had, after playing there at least 8 times, is the starters. Not a single one has ever been anything less than grumpy at best, rude at worst. They all seem to have an incredibly arrogant and condescending attitude, and they don’t make starting a round there fun at all.

The course is very for the price and the price and pace of play were pretty reasonable. The starter at the time is one grumpy chap,

Beautiful and dramatic golf course.
The golf course is not common, there are almost up and down courses. It’s more difficult than New Jersey golf course. I love this place, but some staffs were not kindly though.

Waste of Money and Time
My buddy and I played here this past Monday with a pre-booked tee time of 1:30, figuring 4.5 hours should be plenty of time to get all or most of a round in. Well, we weren't able to tee off until 2pm. We paid for a cart without being told it was Cart Path Only, that was a nice surprise on the 1st hole. Had we known earlier, we surely would have walked. This is not a good cart part only course. The Rangers were riding around, but clearly not trying to keep the pace of play at a reasonable rate. We played the front 9 in around 3 hours, and then were able to shuffle in a few holes on the back 9 before being forced off the course by the Ranger. We play least once a week at other courses and this was easily the worst golf experience we have had in the past few years. It was a complete waste of money and time, and not being able to at least attempt to complete our round was reason enough to never give this place another shot. I will say that the course layout is good, but the practice of overbooking and not maintaining reasonable pace of play while doing so, is the reason for the poor review.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course.
