Saxon Woods Golf Course

I have played this course from the early 90s. It has been up and down due to budgets but mostly up. Currently the course is in great shape. The only critical thing I can say is that the 5th hole needs some adjustments. First of all the inside corner of the dog leg has too many trees and does not allow for a clear shot to the green. There are 5 trees along the edge of the fairway that need to be removed. The original design was to have the green hidden by the hill the trees are on but not blocked. Secondly the green needs to be refurbished by putting mounds behind it to keep balls from going down the hill behind the green, the green itself needs to be recontored to allow for a more reasonable right pin placement.

I love the layout and the conditions are good with some exceptions (many bunkers are terrible-esp hole 7) (some tee boxes a bit beat up but understandable because of shading from trees and a lot of play/limited space to enlarge them). The golfNow tee time thing is an absolute mess. Use the Westchester County system and absolutely avoid golfNow.

Have played saxon woods for years and unfortunately today will be the last time. I had a 12:36 tee time and when I arrived the starter informed me they were running at least 30 minutes late When asked why, the reason I was given was that the weather is nice and what could I expect. Yeah that makes sense. We then proceeded to wait on every shot including multiple 15+ minute waits on tee boxes. We left after playing 11 holes in 3 and a half hours. It’s a poorly kept secret that workers take money under the table to get people out in between tee times and that’s how 6 hour rounds happen. The people running this golf course should be ashamed, no accountability.

Decent course, little too tight as far as next fairways are concerned. Condition was ok but the rough at many places was just too thick (couldn't find the ball if did not land in the fairway). Overall, fair value for the money for a county course. I will recommend this course.

Staff was warm and receptive. Play was EXTREMELY slow even after the ranger came out. We had two group waiting on every tee box, with a third putting out on the prior green

Course conditions were good. Very hot day would have been nice to have a cart traveling the course to get drinks.

The golf course was closed and we were unable to play. How do we get reimbursed?

The course is OK. The range is small and the staff is just OK

Excellent staff, course in great shape even with plenty of rain day before.

I understand why water stations were eliminated during Covid but they need to be restored, especially with the extreme hot weather we have been having which is only expected to get worse.

I have been playing here for a number of years. The staff has always been terrific. The course conditions, carts, and care have all improved this year under the new management. Keep up the good work.

Showed up for a 4:08 tee time with a buddy 45 minutes early and was promised by the starter to get out by 3:45 and was assured I would get 18 in. A foursome with a 4:30 tee time was pushed out on the course at 4:15 having rented 2 bags for 4 players and never having played golf before. An “I don’t know just deal with it,” was the response I got for rightfully questioning why I was being forced to play behind this group even with an earlier tee time. I finally got onto the course by 4:45 and was again promised after 9 holes by the ranger that I would be able to finish 18. At around 7:45 after playing 11 holes and sitting behind another walking foursome (I have a cart) who was pushed out on the 10th hole, I was told carts need to be in and that I was not allowed to walk the rest of the course for the HOUR of remaining sunlight. No sign was posted online nor on the cart barn nor in the clubhouse stating this policy. One of the rangers on the course followed our pace of play to make sure we were not playing through to get 18 in. Saxon woods is cash hungry and manipulates players by forcing everyone they can out on the course without properly managing pace of play and honestly communicating. There have been multiple instances like this where I have received no compensation from them after following through on their false promises of finishing a full round. STAY AWAY!!! Take the extra time to drive up to Mohansic.

Be prepared for a slow day, roughly 5 hours to get through 18. This is on a weekday. With the high volume of golfers, it was very difficult for the Rangers to get people moving faster. Everything was wait, hit the ball wait again no establish rhythm. The course is in good shape though and greens average pace.
