Nice Course, SLOW PLAY

Nice course, super friendly staff and in decent shape for a muni so close to NYC,but get a ranger out on that course! !! Went out as a foursome on a Monday afternoon at 3:45. The first 9 took us 3:10 and that's including the foursome ahead of us who gave up at the 4th hole. There was a horrible threesome ahead of them, but no ranger to monitor play! Shame. I can only imagine what weekends are like!!

Got more than I expected

I thought the course layout was very good. The fairways are in great shape. The rough much better than most public courses. The greens were slower than I prefer. They still haven't recovered from an aeration. We played with a regular that said the pace (5 hrs) was much slower than normal.
I will be back!

Will go back if I'm able

This is a nice course only 30 mins outside of NYC. Needed to find a place to get a quick round in with a friend. Booked on GolfNow app. They were very friendly in the club house. There were people in place and a ranger to keep an eye on things. I would love to get back there when the greens are recovered from Aeration and the rough wasn't so thick around the greens. Will be a much nicer experience then and easier on my scorecard.
Overall, a very enjoyable day.

Wonderful Surprise

It was a busy Monday but they paired us up with another twosome and the pace of play was almost exactly 4 hours. Early fall, no leaves anywhere so they cleaned up well. Fairways and greens and very good shape . Wonderful experience. Played with my buddy who never played there; single digit handicap and he loved it!! And we are both former private club guys...

Impressive course

Course played well and moved fast. Greens were recently aerated but played well. Tight fairways bordered by trees, balls were easy found. Loved the course can't wait to play it again.

It's seen better days

Really nice layout that seems to have been neglected lately. Lots of scruffy fairways and tee boxes.

Best bang for buck

From the people at the desk, the starter, the ranger, the carts, the course itself, and the waiter at the grill all were excellent. This is a very well run county course and the course is maintained beautifully. The rates are excellent, with all kinds of deals if you are a county resident. If you are not a county resident you can get the same prices or less by going on line to golf now .com. Also, Maple Moor is easy to get to from any place in the metro area. I make it a point to play there at least four times a year!

Price on GOLFNOW is wrong ... BEWARE.

The price I was quoted on Golfnow was $36 including a cart but when I got to the course they told my group the price was wrong and that it was the "Super Twilight Rate". Our team time was for 5:45pm and the "ST" started at 6pm. They ended up charging us $31 just to walk because with a cart it was $45. Needless to say, there seems to be some communication issues between golfnow and the course or they are taking people for a ride.

Also, multiple people in behind the proshop counter attested to the price and was told they would fix it but still see the lower price on golf now.

Country Club Greens -- at Maple Moor??

I've been playing the Moor since taking up golf in 2007. It's a challenging, old fashioned municipal course constructed along the Hutchinson River.

Since 2007 there have been numerous physical upgrades -- plantings, attractive stone retaining walls, fresh bunker sand, rehab of the restaurant and pro shop, attempts to correct poor drainage holes.

Used to be, when a 3 foot putt mysteriously would swing away from the hole, or stop dead short, I would say I got "maplemoored." But when I played there yesterday, the greens were a revelation. Country club quality. Seriously. Healthy, nearly perfect (except for pitch marks), rolling true, and fast. I only played the back 9, but the guys I paired up with said the whole course was like that. Can they keep it up through the hot summer months? We'll see, but I give the greens managers high marks for trying.

Poor grounskeeping

Course felt like it hadn't been mowed or cut in more than 2 weeks. Very tough and long rough. Greens were poorly kept as well. And poorly managed due to long waits.

Nicely maintained, but slow play

When we arrived, we were told tee times were pushed back because a fight had erupted after the starter told a single to join a pair of players on the tee. I guess the players "exchanged" drivers and the cops were called. So, we went upstairs to the restaurant and had a good lunch on the nice porch overlooking the beautiful course. Fall colors were in full array. Highly recommend the restaurant. And when the starter had us join a pair on the tee, we introduced ourselves, shook hands and had a great day of conversation and golf. We love meeting new people at the golf course! And of all the courses we played while visiting the area, Maple Moor was our favorite. Best tee boxes, fairways and greens we saw. But as others have noted, the pace of play was very slow.

Nice course, various terrain changes, kept my interest, definitely will come back. Restaurant grill is top notch. Rib eye steak is one of the best!

Really thought the course was very interesting. Each hole had a different element to it: elevation changes, some water hazards and slight dog legs. Was not boring. Greens and tee boxes were well maintained. Pace of play was on the slow side. All in all was very satisfied and will look forward to playing again. Afterwards tried the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their rib eye steak. Excellent! Perfectly charred (medium, rare) and seasoned. Juicy and succulent, just melted in your mouth! The mashed potatoes were great, too! My non-golfing friends want to go just for the steak, Ha! Perfect topping to a great day.

Fun and diverse hole layout

The course has a variety of hole designs to make it interesting and challenging despite the modest length from the white tees which is good for the occasional golfer.
Some fairways needed attention, a few greens, but overall a good value.
