Great layout
Nice course. A couple of holes where you feel threatened by errant tee shots from other holes.
Maple Moor
What a fun course this was. Although the pace of play was pretty slow, still had a fun round. Considering it was a weekday, there sure were a lot of groups out there. Tee boxes were maintained and fairways in good shape with a decent amount of bunkers and water hazards. The layout is links style so an errant shot will have you playing from the next fairway. Small greens that were a bit slow but maintained for a public course. Would love to play here again. There is a snack bar and restrooms at the nine which was convenient.
Long pace but good value
Maple Moor was a good course. Very crowded and the pace was slow but we had a foursome in front of us which never golfed. Had to have patience but we all start somewhere. Course condition was ok - greens a little burnt but overall in good shape given the amount of rain the prior night. A little noisy towards the left of the course as it does hug the very traveled Hutchinson River Parkway but well covered so you couldn't really see the vehicles. I personally am willing to travel a little further to the west courses of NJ but for the $35 with cart it was absolutely worth it. And the carts had NAV screens with hole layouts and yardage which was a real nice touch.
We really liked the bar/restaurant with the deck overlooking 18. They made quick sandwiches (one we took on the course) and a good beer selection.
Decent pro shop too - actually picked up new Taylor Made driver for a really good price.
Would play Maple Moor again for sure.
Great with a discount
Nice course but I would have trouble paying the normal out of town rate for it. I def would play there again though.
fairways need lots of work
The fairways have many bare spots caused by water accumulating in low spots- needs better drainage
Course needs lots of attention.
This course has some very beat up fairways and tee boxes. Most of the greens are ok but very slow since it seemed they added a small layer of sand to them to dry them out. I've played other county courses and this one ranks at the bottom so far.
Nice layout, fairways are burned off right now
First time playing this course. the layout is pretty wide open with a few hills thrown in. for my game this place is great. the conditions weren't very good though. looks like the heat wave took its toll on the fairways. all in all i would go back.
Not worth it!
I've played Maple Moor a lot over the years, but this was the first time in 20 years. The staff was friendly, but, other than that, it was not a pleasurable experience. The fairways were atrocious for this time of year, and considering there was GPS in the carts, the money could be spent elsewhere. The round was 5 hours long, and this was only because the group in front of us left after 9 because of the wait. When asked about the delay, the ranger said "there is backup all over the course, and I don't know where it starts". Isn't that the ranger's job to know and fix slow play?
Overall, a frustrating day at the gf course.
Better in the past.
This has been my go to muni course for the past few years. I've always been happy with the conditions....for a muni course that is. For one reason or another I haven't been able to get out to Maplemoor this season....until yesterday. Outside of the greens, the course was in poor condition. The fairways were burned up. I'd hit a great drive only to find myself on a patch of hard dirt. More attention to course condition is needed.
Friendly staff.
Very interesting layout. Not a boring course. Look forward go playing again.
Some challenging holes, fast greens, well maintained.
The course plays well, some challenging holes. Since we are new golfers it did take us almost 5 hrs to play. The ranger passed by twice and asked us to speed it up. There were 4 of us and 2 behind us, of course they were going to be waiting for us. We werent even looking for our balls in the trees, maybe he wanted us to run. But even though the ranger was a pain, I did enjoy the course.
This course was challenging and has a nice open layout.
I enjoyed my round at Maple Moor. The course plays challenging but is also fun to play. The greens were in great condition and unfortunately the fairways were pretty soaked due to the downpour the day before. The pace of play was decent, better than normal on a Westchester public course.
Great Condition
I played Maple Moor 5/20/2013 in the afternoon. It was a great value and the course is in great shape. It's quite short and not too challenging. I've been playing rounds in the mid to upper 80s and kept pretty consistent for my first time out at Maple Moor - after a few rounds, it'd be the type of course to score well on.
The greens are a little slow, but roll well. It's possible to get the ball close to the pins.
freindly course little water not many bunkers
foursome in front of us had one player who did not belong on course his drives average about 50 yards ranger was on them all day why it took 5 hrs round!
Not bad for a public course
I have played here in years past and will definitely play here again this year....
Nice Public Course
Once you arrived the personnel was very friendly and attentive. They got me out on the tee before my tee time. The pace of play was very good due to cold weather. With a couple of layers the temperature wasn't that cold. At times on holes in the back of the course the wind began to kick up. It made the course a little challenging but was great to be able to try a different shot selection.
I didn't feel rush this time at the course which isn't the norm. Last time I visited the course I was constantly being rushed through the course making it one of the worse times of the year.
This time I was using this time on the course as practice. So being able to concentrate on each hole and shot made the time on the course well worth it.
Slow
Too few courses in Westchester make them all crowded and slow. Good layout and playable for all. Holes along the Hutchinson River are often flooded.. Greens in good shape. Good use of distances that include both long and short par 4's. Par 5's might be reachable in two but you must place your shot for an approach. Hit the wrong side of the fairway and you are lookin at boogey . The course has all skill levels and everyone should feel comfortable. Lacks amenities such as a driving range.
Good Course
Course has narrow fairways, took us about 5 hrs to play 18. Course was packed. Greens were in great shape though. Really challenging greens. Would def. recommend. Paid $35 on a hot deal. Cant beat it on a weekend.
Much better than when I last played years ago
The severe problem with drainage seems to have been addressed. Fun course to play
Play from the tips.Makes huge difference
Stay out of the rough.Lost balls in pain site. Some fairways rough due to flood damage.Fun Course.
