55th year playing Maple Moor
I’m left over from the days of sleeping in my car to buy an early time for a Saturday round. There were twenty of us and every week taking turns four of us showed up to buy early time arriving around 11 pm. Our club was the Sundown Golf Club from Mt. Vernon. We loved Maple Moor, knew the game well and had some pretty good golfers. Slow play was frowned upon, Golf Etiquette was a prerequisite and Sportsmanship was a given.
What we always missed and I still miss is a practice area where you could swing your clubs and hit a few balls.
It’s tough to start off with a driver without warming up adds a stroke or two to your round. Also at one time we could chip onto the putting green but not anymore.
The course is excellent, conditions have improved so much, the staff and course workers are the BEST!!!
Looking forward to my next round on Wednesday!
Maple Moor Golf
I had a 4:08 teel time and planned on playing 9 holes. the round ended at 6.48. Two hours and 40 minutes to play 9 holes is unacceptable and with rangers on the course doing basically nothing to speed up the course other than to share "really slow today" does not make for an enjoyable time. and the sad part no one on staff is surprised or concerned about the pace of play.

good course but slow
booked 2:15 tee time but teed off at 2:40. waited every hole. finished 7:45. good condition.

A Quite enjoyable afternoon
I last played Maple Moor at the beginning of the season. Greens and bunkers are in great shape. The fairways are good in about half the par 4 and par 5 holes, but the recent rains has required cart path-only on the other half. For all the money that was spent on improving course drainage a few years ago, it's a bit disappointing that standing water is still an issue. That said, it was a quite enjoyable afternoon with the three other singles with whom I was paired.

Nice day of golf
Usually play Mohansic but was closed due to storm damage, decided to play Maple Moor, was pleasantly surprised, nice course, friendly staff and for my level of golf much easier than Mohansic, if it wasn't for the drive I'd probably play here more often, also the people that we played with were extremely nice.

Great staff
Course is in great shape. Everyone in pro shop are excellent. They are wonderful. Tommy the pro, Vinnie is awesome & John the starter keeps everyone on target.
