Sprain Lake Golf Course

, not well kept around cart paths where they meet with the fairway or parts of rough. Leaving you with really tough lies. Very slow pace on a wet drizzly day with not even a foursome in front of our threesome.

Local course, will return but on a day I’ll have completely free.

5-ish hour round mid day on a Sunday, which is what you expect. Course is well maintained and staff was very friendly and professional. Lots of short par 4s. All in all a solid experience though. Beats the muni courses located in Queens/Staten Island by a mile and similarly priced. Would recommend over any of those every day. It’s a nice place and you won’t regret playing here.

Very disappointed in the pace of play for the course .

It took us over 5 hours to play 18 . Never again . We experienced some holes where 3 groups were waiting to tee off . Never saw a ranger out on the course to help speed up play . If the course had too many groups for the day then they should have spaced out the starting times better . I guess all they cared about was getting as many golfers on the course as possible . We have played here many times in the past and have never had such a long round . I do want to point out that the employees in both the golf shop and the restaurant do a great job .

Prettier than many public courses and perhaps a tad tougher with lakes, swamps and hidden creeks in play. The staff tries hard to make this a good experience; the course was in ok shape for this time of year. This is a good track for intermediate players, but beginners might be frustrated because of many side hill and downhill lies, blind shots and several forced carries. This makes play a little slow sometimes. Advanced golfers may find it not challenging enough because it’s short and lightly bunkered. Tricky-fun part is that many of the fairways run parallel to the lake and slope toward it, even the ones not next to the water, so you might hit a super drive to the far right and still wind up in the left rough. Same idea with the greens—chances are the putt will break toward the water even though all four of you swear it’s going the other way. So, add a star if you have a good sense of humor.

If you don’t hit the ball straight it will be a long day. Greens were pure. Course in good shape not my favorite but it was enjoyable

Impressive the shape it was in for so early in the season! Great time. Bartender for drinks was an added bonus!

The Sprain seems to be a popular course and has been a hard place to get a early tee time in the past. I was lucky enough to get one on this day. The guys at pro shop when checking in were extremely accommodating. Can’t say enough how much i enjoyed the course . Each hole had its own interesting lay out . The pace of play was good . Look forward to coming back to Sprain lake again real soon.

The weather was fine though it was supposed to have a few showers in the afternoon, So the pace of play was very good. We finished the round in 3 and half hours.

The condition of the greens and fairways are good.
