Never Disappoints
Always enjoy playing here. Very scenic and interesting course. Friendly staff. Never disappoints. Good challenge
Played from the whites: seems short on the scorecard (5631 yds) but plays fairly difficult due to hills and large fast greens. Front 9 is quite easy but the much longer back 9 (by 400 yds) offers a nice variety of interesting and challenging holes. Very positive experience.
New Course
This was my first time playing the course since the renovations and i'm impressed. Course is in great condition. Congrats to grounds crew...
A Public Course Gem
Beautiful layout, very well maintained. This is crucial or hackers like me will still be looking for wayward shots. I’ve been playing it since I was a kid. It’s never been more beautiful. The County truly has been doing the right thing with its public golf courses. Keep up the hard work!
Awesome course upgrades
Clearing ou brush along lake makes it the picturesque and beautiful courses in county. Public AND private.

A short course that is a lot of fun with plenty of variety of the holes. While it was a wet day, the greens were really really slow (must not have been cut and/or rolled). Friendly staff and the restaurant food was really good. My wife and I will definitely come back to play this course again.

Great value
Got a great deal from the GolfNow all, couldn’t beat the value. Played 12 holes before it started raining hard, still worth it. Would definitely recommend.
Construction is Over!
Last Year's construction and Renovations are done and the course looks great! No alternate greens or changes, just 18 well groomed challenging holes. Greens are in pretty good shape and overall a really enjoyable round. Glad Sprain Lake is back because its one of my favorite of the Westchester courses and still offers some really good Hot Deals during the week.
Busy place after a heavy rain
They’re doing some work on irrigation and drainage, and have built a temporary hole in place of #13. Busy busy, busy! Course drains well after a heavy rain, and gets heavy play as a result. Pace of play=5 hours.
Almost there!
Sprain Lake GC has been undergoing an upgrade/ improvement. Work is almost complete and the finished product should be fantastic. Fairways are in great shape and the new greens are good and getting better. The layout is challenging yet enjoyable even for an intermediate player.
No par fives on the front helps keep the pace of play acceptable. We usually play 18 in just under four hours.
Course is a construction zone
Course is literally under construction with no warning from starter or club house. Avoid at all costs
Course Conditions
They are doing a lot of work to the course. I think it will be very much improved once the work is complete and it has a chance to "grow in". In the meantime there are a few growing pains but it's still very worthwhile visiting.
Hole closed
Hole 14 was closed under repair but other then that it's a nice course
Great Public Course in Westchester
The course is under construction.
-new greens
-a new bridge
-new fairway drainage.
The construction is somewhat inconvenient on 2 holes.
New locker rooms, restrooms and showers.
The 19th hole has good food and a nice bar.
Next year the course will be awesome.

the review posted 5/4/18 is not up to date, hole 14 is closed. the pro shop staff is unprofessional/curt in there answer to rain check policy questions. The deposit for cart rental was not returned due to my returning the cart to the pro shop area where I picked it up. I won't be returning to SLGC.
