great for a public course
very surprised in the shape of the golf course, very nice, small greens but a little fuzzy. front 9 a little short, back9 more challenging. food and drinks at restaurant were great. will be back to play again
Bang for your buck
A 4-some on a Saturday mid afternoon for under 50bucks per person is a steal no matter what the course. But has some good holes, decent quality, fun course.
fall golf
most county courses are usually in poor shape this time of year
not sprain they do a great job managing the leaves
change the pin position on number 12 its un fair
good water holes
this course was a well kept course even though the food should have been a little bit better the pace of play was decent the personnel here was very friendly
GREENS?
It looked as though no one had fixed a pitch mark since the last time I played here three years ago. Now I remember why I didn't hurry back. It could be a pretty course.
Great Local Course
I have played Sprain Lake often as I live nearby. Course is well maintained, ride carts a new, and when 3 of us went off at 2pm we were able to play 18 holes in just under 4 hrs. All of the staff are courteous and friendly with one exception, a starter/ranger named Mick. If he gives you any lip he should be reported.
Greens good everything else bad
The greens were slow but in great shape, everything else from the tee boxes to the fairways were in pretty poor condition. Extremely short and easy course with hazards that don't tend to come into play for any good player. Inexpensive but you get what you pay for, if you just want to go hit the ball around its a fine course but if your in it for the beauty and challenge of the course it's not for you. Also, the pace of play was very slow and we happened to be playing near a group who were extremely loud, drunk and wearing jeans and t-shirts.
Moderate course
It's good to play 18 holes not too busy that day. Problem is too much ducks on the course..
very slow green.
Grasses have not cut for while so ball doesn't roll on the putting green.
Very slow pace.
Many geeses were in the course so those made course very messy.
A little hidden gem!
a wonderful course...
so close to the city..
fun and challenging!
4 1/2 hrs on sat pretty great...
can't wait to go back...
a little hassle at the front desk but taken care of..
very friendly people.. got out on time...
Conditions
Course was in great shape, especially considering the time if the season and play that has been occurred up to this point. Great experience!
Enjoyable
I had read many reviews of the facility, most not to flattering. I have to say that our experience was very pleasant. The course was in very good condition. The greens were slow as you would expect on a public course. We played after noon and had uninhibited play until the 14th.
The course is not to difficult, but very enjoyable. The staff is very nice and helpful.
Overbooked
Right from the get go this course was extremely overbooked. We teed off 15 minutes after our scheduled time and we were easily waiting for 15 minutes after each hole. It really ruined my experience and I will not be going back here the rest of the season. I also never write reviews so for me to take the time out and let people know how awful the wait time was means it was terrible
enjoyable
Had a great day at sprain. Course was in great condition, a few challenging holes and sloped greens. no holes were there a back up witch is a big +
Course in good condition
Nice scenic layout by the water. Only negative, rangers should speed up novice walking players.
Please Let Me Find a Flat Lie !!!!!
Over all a fun day of Golf. Not the longest track in the world. But what made several shots difficult was the lack of a flat lies in most fairways.
It did cost me a few strokes. Dead center fairway. My ball was two feet above my stance. Or my ball two feet below my stance.
helpful
THEY LET US TWO OUT ALONE WHICH WAS FINE, BUT SHOULD HOOK-UP SINGLES WHICH THEY SHOULD NOT LET OUT ALONE AS IT TENDS TO SLOW DOWN THE PLAY...
Course is good length especially for women.
We keep coming back to this course nice fairways not to wide or to narrow.you can keep the ball in play
