Sprain Lake Golf Course

It is a beautiful setting and an interesting course, enjoyable to play and well-maintained. Carts have GPS screens - nice. The fairways had drained well from the previous two days of rain because it is on hillsides, but naturally the greens were slow. There were repairs and maintenance projects going on on several of the holes, especially #3, but they accommodated the golfers very well. Ladies get a huge advantage off the tee on several of the holes, but most of the par 3's are long for us.

the course had some upgrades over the winter and it looks great.

Worst course I played so far this year. Slow greens, sprinklers were on when putting, had to wait after every shot

The golf course is currently under renovation with repaving & construction of cart paths, aeration & construction of fairways, & machinery on course. Would recommend waiting until June for work to be complete and course to grow in.

The second hole has a green which is a patch on the not so smooth fairway. You should take this course off your list until they are able to bring it up to scratch. There is mud all over the course from the repairs.

Only issue I have with this course is that it was on a wet day that I played and construction remodeling going on at this time but otherwise employees are very friendly carts have GPS and price is reasonable. Going back next week.

besides the adherent third hole the green were in great shape, fairways were in good shape as well. views were great, pay this course and have fun

So many unique holes with with forced carries over water coming in to play on 5 or 6 holes. Also many tough greens including a three tiered green. Make sure your approach is accurate. Short course with no par5's on the front and t least one of the par5's is reachable in two. Too slow and used to gave a big geese problem but they have solved it.be careful as trouble is often near with tree lined fairways. Worth it if you can find a deal but go elsewhere is it is over $40

The course has some of the fastest greens of the courses owned by Westchester county. Pin placements on 2,5,9,10,12 and the 18th holes turn missed par putts into very possible double bogeys. The 18th slopes hard from right to left when the pin is in the front and is tough to stop if you miss the cup. The wind is often a factor especially on the par threes that border the lake, and the other two that play uphill. Great value especially when you get it on golfnow.

the course is excellent condition for a public course, save the number of wild/birds and related waste on the course. Given the hour of the T-Time for the discounted rate, it is very difficult if not impossible to complete 18 holes before sundown.

Everytime I put a choice of time for 8.:00 am the earliest retreival time comes up with 12:00 PM. Why am I not given a choice for early times? Before 12 or 1:00 PM?

i live in the area and i feel its the nicest of the home town courses, its in real nice shape with great water views

I started playing here 20 yrs ago, got tired of it, but it's alway been great, its the best public course in Westchester, NY. The others are good as well, but Sprain is great. It has it all, water, cliff, hidden greens and fairway etc,. Back in those days, when the course get back up, the starter would send a few group to the back nine to smoothen the flow, but I haven't see them do that since 2011. I only play in Westchester when I get a great deal thru Golfnow.

Nice course with great views. Not a difficult course, but considering I'm a beginner pretty challenging. Will definitely
play again.

Course is well maintained and the staff is very friendly, can't wait to return it's my new favorite course. A 35 minute drive from Midtown Manhattan makes it a real gem.
