The Wigwam Arizona
About The Wigwam Arizona
Located in the West Valley near Phoenix-Scottsdale is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, Wigwam. Set on 440 acres, this village-style resort features three 18-hole golf courses, including two designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., most notably the famous Gold Course. The resort features 331 casitas and suites with large private patios and several resort pools, including a new 25-foot water slide tower. The resort-style golf courses are more parkland in nature than surrounding desert courses and feature palm trees and water hazards sprinkled throughout. There are four dining concepts, led by the signature Litchfield's Restaurant serving local farm-to-table cuisine, while there is Red's Bar & Grill for casual fare and the Wigwam Bar, which is the social epicenter of the resort. Recreation outside of the 54 holes of golf is nine lighted tennis course and two regulation bocce-ball courts, sand volleyball, bike rentals and yard games.Facts

Hidden gem
The 54 hole facility on the west side is a true gem. The Blue course is not a long course but the greens are small and have a great deal of slope. Great staff, in great shape. The blue is not the beast that the gold course is, but makes for a great challenge, and a fun day.
Beware the raised greens
Seems like a straight-forward, flatish layout, which it is for the most part. However, wait till you approach the raised, teacup greens and try to stop a ball on them - or try to get a ball close if you're chipping. There's also the disparity between the length of the front and back nines and the long par 4's (and 3's) on the front. But the staff are lovely and very helpful.
Good condition
Good condition. Good pace of play. Greens were a bit slow but overall in good shape. Will play again.
Great Condition
Shortly but great course. In great condition.
Friendly staff.
Nice course
Really enjoyed playing here. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Course was very nice to play. Will return
Gold Course is a real test
Gold course is a great test of golf. Long even from the forward tees. Don't play gold unless you can drive it at least 260 yards. Had a great time for the first time there.
Cold staff
Golf shop staff very cold . There was no good morning …after i said good morning their question was what time is your tee time …their next question was « paying for both « no have a great day enjoy your round . The cart guys asked what course we where playing and handed us a score card . We had to ask where to go.
On the bright side the pace a play was great even with cart path only rules. The course was in good shape and the food and drinks where great at red's.
Starter was really nice to talk to…made up for the lack of serve coming in .
Highly recommend
Excellent value for a well maintained great course. Highly recommend.
Wiggy Red Course - Nice Track!
I like the Red course over the Gold course for playability reasons. The greens on the Red course are flatter and more accepting. The courses at Wiggy are always in great shape!
Gold course
FW Grass & Greens were in good condition. Undulating Greens were not easy.
Great course
Booked a last minute 2:00pm tee time and finished all 18 by the time it got dark. Pace of play was good even though it was surprisingly busy, greens were really fast and good shape. Definitely a course I’d play again!
Couldn’t have been a better day
Perfect weather. Staff did me a huge favor, won’t forget that. Course was excellent condition. Pace of play was perfect
Most Enjoyable Round In a While
I had a great time during my first visit to the Red Course - probably the most pleasant golf experience in a while. The practice areas are nice, huge putting green, plenty of driving range spots. We were hitting off of mats on the range, though. Hopefully only until winter grass gets a bit more established? Staff was so friendly throughout the day, especially the ranger and check-in staff. I did get turned around getting to the first hole - could have used a bit more detail from the young man dolling out carts who just told me "go that way". Made it halfway through the Gold course before I was like there is just no way this is right and turned around. Fairways are the most lush I have seen on an AZ course in a while. I thought the greens were rolling pretty fast - accidentally blew past the hole on a few putts. It is a fairly simple layout with only a few bunkers and water hazards to punish you. The mature trees lining the fairways were the most encountered obstacles. I would absolutely play this course again!
