Wigwam Resort - Gold Course

About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

It’s long but great
As a new golfer it’s pretty challenging but you’ll enjoy the long drive holes.
Great Place for Golf
Greens were tight and fairly quick. Rough was a little long making it slightly more difficult. Overall the course is in fantastic shape!
Simple and traditional style course
Somewhat Midwest style course- not a desert style course- fairly flat and minimal hazards and easier than expected to play from men’s tees
Sunday
The course was just over seeded.
Fairways were green
Putting surfaces were slow, but very nice.
Decent not great
It is just ok... definitely needs some TLC. Obviously during over seed season you can't expect everything to be great but I'm not sure it's that great after over-seed season. I'll give it another try in the future.
Trash Course
This course was complete trash. Typically, when you book, they will warn you of conditions, overseeding, cart path etc. Not here
The course was in terrible condition.
I've played all over the place and this by far is one of the worst courses I have ever played. Paid like $75, this is maybe a $30 course.
Looking forward to coming back
I've been playing in Arizona for 15 years and never played the WigWam before. Definitely a nice surprise. The course has an older feel - mature, but very well maintained - not at all "tired" like so many of the older courses out here. We played "gold" - the longest course but played at the shorter tees (red), and it was a good length for us. Lots of staff - a starter and ranger on each of the 3 courses (red, blue, gold), plenty of help by the carts, in the club house, and in the restaurant. Cart girls were attentive. I only wish the course was a little closer to my house!
Championship Course
Longer than Red & Blue, this course requires good course management.
Played the Championship Tees.
Small, contoured greens. Great time!
3:15, round complete.
Thanks to all at Wigwam!
Gold it isn't
Hard bunkers with limited sand, sparce rough (if you can call it that), good course if you want to swing hard and chase your ball without caring where it goes. GPS provided is ancient and limited, will not provide you with green views. Not typical for a good resort to have a poor course. Got a good rate, so acceptable.
Excellent summer rate, nice course
Course was in great shape considering an aeration a couple of weeks ago. Greens were not too bumpy and rolled true. They were still doing some aeration in the rough on sides of some fairways but the staff was always considerate of golfers and stopping machines and staying clear. Pin placements on may greens on GOLD course were close to edges of greens which added some difficulty to many holes. Pace of play was excellent for my round. Great summer rate.
Phenooooominal
Excellent golf course, could use more water. Although the entire state is in a severe drought. Will be back again soon.
Thank You Wigwam Staff and Groundskeepers
