Wigwam Resort - Gold Course

About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Wigwam Gold - 5/30/2023
Really nice course in good shape. A few bald patches on some fairways, but to be expected in Phoenix, and really not that bad. Otherwise, from tee to green, it was a delight to play essentially a parkland course in the desert.
Had a group of 4 ahead of us who were a little slow. Bear in mind I was playing with an 80+ year old vet, to give an indication of how slow the group were. We still finished in less than 4 hours, which some would argue is reasonable, but we still had to wait on virtually every tee.
Pro Shop is not well signposted, and is unfortunately hidden away but once you get through to the main area, everything is clearly laid out and marked.
Wigwam Gold course
I was kind of surprised to see the condition of the fairways on the gold course. They need a little work. Maybe they are transitioning to their summer grass. The day before we played Pebblebrook and theirs were in excellent shape.
The greens on the gold course were in fantastic shape. Lots of undulations and speed was very good. The tee boxes were also in good shape.
This was my first time playing Wigwam Gold Course and it did not disappoint. I’m from the Northeast US and Wigwam provided a great golfing experience. The course was firm and fast, true to the Arizona style courses.
WigWam!
Weather, great course, good cold beer. Good staff. Excellent
Wigwam Gold course bliss
The gold course was true challenge on the greens. As expected they were quick and true to breaks. With the maturity of the course do your best to stay in the fairway or first cut to eliminate the challenge of the trees. Enjoy the day.
Tough course
Very difficult greens to hold and tough pin positions on day we played. Don’t play this course unless you are under 13 handicap. Great test of golf by one of the best architects of all time. Best value in Phoenix

as a resort course the parking and directions to the course somewhat confusing - the parking far from course , practice range , mats only- however the gold course was a very good challenge, fairways very good condition & greens excellent
Club drop off is lacking. Should have carts available for unloading. Lack of water in lakes looks bad. Other than that love the course.
Great conditions
My group was very impressed with wigwam gold. The course layout and conditions were excellent. A big challenge for me, a bogey golfer, and my friends, a little worse than bogey golfers. But not too difficult to run the experience.
The only issue we had was the group in front of us decided to eyeball every green like they were on the 72nd hole at the masters. It was hot, and the slow down (4-1/2 hour round) became irritating but didn’t detract from a great day.
