Stadium Course

The Stadium Course is challenging but fun to play. Hole #16 need better sign for penalty drops. There was no drop sign during our play.

Great course condition, better course layout

Got a tee time at 3 pm for a good price. Super challenging layout which was very fun. Staff was friendly and professional. Got stuck behind a group that was playing slow but managed to finish 18 holes in almost 4.5 hours before sunset.

Great Course, Somewhat Poor Amenities

We were the first group of the day and I believe we played in four hours and 20 minutes or so, which is great because we took our time, took some cool photos, and tried to enjoy ourselves. The front nine is interesting in that I was struggling to pick out targets to aim at, but that’s what made it interesting and fun and certainly different than the golf we are used to playing back home. The first few holes on the back side are incredibly forgettable, but after that you get some really amazing views and intriguing golf holes. The only complaints I have is that we didn’t see the beverage cart until the 13th hole and the halfway house was still closed when we made the turn. It warmed up fast, so a couple of beers and a Gatorade would have been nice somewhere around the whole six or seven. Great course with amazing views that I will undoubtedly play again. Also, huge props to the golf course maintenance team, because the tees, fairways, rough, and greens were absolutely perfect.

Service was lacking

We had one of the first early morning teetimes, and the range was not set up or ready, no refreshments, sly coffee, ready for the guests either…

Disappointing

Great course

Incredible course with awesome vistas everywhere you look.

Thoroughly enjoyed the round but it took 5:30 for the round, way to slow, especially mid week.

5+ hour round

Had to wait on every shot. On the par 3’s, we typically had two foursomes waiting. Staff/ranger came by several times and indicated that they had a couple of slow groups that they “couldn’t convince” to speed up. Back nine is better than the front. Pete Dye is always a challenge.

The mischievous finger prints of Pete Dye

There is a moment just before your first tee shot at the Pete Dye Dunes Course at PGA West when the Coachella Valley seems to hold its breath. The Santa Rosa Mountains rise behind you like ancient sentinels wrapped in violet and ochre, their jagged silhouette painted against a California sky so achingly blue it almost seems invented. The air is warm and still. The fescue-covered mounds cascade softly away from you in every direction, rolling and folding like the edges of some sleeping giant’s quilt. And somewhere in that stillness, you can almost hear Pete Dye laughing quietly, cleverly, from somewhere just beyond your line of sight.

The Dunes Course is Dye doing something unusual for Dye, being generous. But do not mistake generosity for mercy. This is a man who built the Stadium Course just next door, a course that once reduced Tour professionals to muttered obscenities. Here, on the Dunes, he exhales. He slows down. He paints with a broader brush. And yet his fingerprints, those masterful, mischievous fingerprints are pressed into every mound, every bunker edge, every false front and tilting green.

To play the Pete Dye Dunes Course is to participate in a conversation with one of the game’s great minds a man who believed the golf course was not merely a venue but a narrative.

And so, I write it as such.

Had a blast, beers with the boys and slammed some birdies.

Great course but pace was 5 hr.20 min

Unfortunately, we booked into a packed tee sheet of players who were going to be in a tournament there. Apparently, some of them somewhere in front of us preferred spending over an hour longer than necessary in 97 degrees heat. It's a great course, full of challenges and risk reward choices. But it is exhausting to play it on a very hot day with slow players.

Over 5 hours, did not finish

We asked the starter about the pace of play and he said it was around 4.5 hours. As soon as we went off, we waited on every shot. We did not see a ranger until the back 9. We made the turn in 2.5 hours. The group in front of us was playing so slow and not playing ready golf. The ranger finally came by, did not speak to us and went on his way. We quit after the 17th hole, 5 hours and 10 minutes into the round. I don’t care how much I paid, no golf experience should take this long.

Beautiful scenery and beautiful golf course

The course is beautiful and it showcases the mountain backdrops of Coachella Valley.

Plenty of well -maintained bunkers and plush fairways make this a top choice in the Palm Springs / La Quinta area.

The greens were slow but otherwise excellent.

The pace was 4 hours 20 minutes. That was for my group using 3 different tee boxes, in 105 degree heat. Plenty of water and ice was available through out the course.

A great afternoon.

Bucket List

We all have our golf courses that we dream of playing. I finally checked this one off my bucket list with close friends. The experience was trully like a dream come true!

Everything was so pristine and the staff were professional and courteous.

The Statium course was out of my league at 134 from the Whites but enjoyed every stroke. My friend landed in the 16th bunker that looked like a scene from HackSaw Ridge where a pro took a 12 with 5 to get up up out of! Our other friend Birdied the infamous Alcatraz 17, what a beautiful hole.

What more can I say but can't wait to play it again. I can't wait to see the next PGA tournament there on T.V. and know that I experienced the same course!
