PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course

While the mountain course is known to be the lesser of the PGA West clubs, the condition of the course and the indifference of the staff are shameful. The entire front 9 is essentially a bog, with poor water management leading to bare fairways and swampy depressions on every hole. Greenside bunkers are essentially playground sand with no depth, dried solid. The few remaining trees are lopped off and sickly making the whole scene just sad.

Making the turn, we stopped for a snack and the staff were clearly miserable; behaving as if we were troubling them for a prepackaged sandwich and a drink. Back nine was in marginally better shape, roughly average for off-season in this area.

I’ve lived here for 3 years and this was - by far - the most pitiful experience I’ve had. The PGA West brand holds zero value for me after this.

Play ANYWHERE else.

The staff were fantastic, the course could have been in a bit better shape. There were several areas of fairway that were burnt and or bare, and the green were very slow. Other than that playable and enjoyable with very beautiful backdrops to the mountains.

Course was awesome! Layout was very good and the back 9 was nothing but amazing. The staff were very friendly and explained everything about the course very well. Only downsides were and this is just because it’s (out of season) had a few rocks in the bunkers, bar / restaurant closed before 4pm. Luckily enough we had our own drinks. I will definitely be back

First time at this beautiful coarse. Back side was tougher through some home before you reach the beauty of the mountains. Pace moved along in the afternoon with a 215 tee time. Well under 4 hours. Staff was awesome and helpful.

Really enjoyed my round at the Mountain Course. A fun challenge that asked you a question on every shot. Answer right and you get rewarded, answer wrong and you’ll be in trouble. Fast and firm, crazy fun greens and spectacular views of the Santa Rosa’s. Would definitely recommend

Played here on a hot deal. Had a 10:30 tee time, thankfully it wasn’t too hot. Tee box to green was great. Would definitely play here again.

The traps were hard as rock. The greens rolled well were very patchy. Enjoyed playing here and the staff was great.

Ridiculously overbooked I get trying to make money at the end of the year, but you take the fun out of GOLF

Beautiful course especially the back 9 that goes around the mountains. Starter Brian was super friendly too would totally recommend.

We were the first group of the day and I believe we played in four hours and 20 minutes or so, which is great because we took our time, took some cool photos, and tried to enjoy ourselves. The front nine is interesting in that I was struggling to pick out targets to aim at, but that’s what made it interesting and fun and certainly different than the golf we are used to playing back home. The first few holes on the back side are incredibly forgettable, but after that you get some really amazing views and intriguing golf holes. The only complaints I have is that we didn’t see the beverage cart until the 13th hole and the halfway house was still closed when we made the turn. It warmed up fast, so a couple of beers and a Gatorade would have been nice somewhere around the whole six or seven. Great course with amazing views that I will undoubtedly play again. Also, huge props to the golf course maintenance team, because the tees, fairways, rough, and greens were absolutely perfect.

Service was lacking

We had one of the first early morning teetimes, and the range was not set up or ready, no refreshments, sly coffee, ready for the guests either…
