View from 11th. Tee The Crossings @ Carlsbad Photo submitted by boldsirbrian on 11/27/2012
elevation
The elevation changes were spectacular, only hole I did not like was the 10th, difficult to see the fairway from blue tee box. Great course, challenging, would play again
Bad design of the course
I enjoyed the views (up and down) and had fun.
But felt so bad about riding the cart for so long.
From one hole to the next, or from the fairway to the green, you have to ride miles.
Every body in our group commented that it's such a bad bad design. Such a waste of energy (cart)!!!!
Dear junechun,
I apologize for the seemingly extra long cart ride. Our course was designed around environmentally protected areas - there are several protected critters surrounding the course and it had to be designed around their home. We appreciate the fact that you enjoyed the views and hope you decide to come back! Thanks for the 4 stars!

Ups and Downs
Sprawling course layout with 7 miles of paved cart paths, skirting environmentally protected areas. Wide, undulating fairways. Undulations caused unexpected ground roll of the ball. Local knowledge a must. Very thin layer of sand in the traps. Aeration started of the 18th, with reduced green fees. Would not re-play at the going rate, even thru GolfNow. Although, would recommend the course as a one time experience. Supposedly, a free round is provided on one's birthday.
Hi u000004701729,
I am sorry that you felt like the course wasn't worth playing again at standard rate! We hope you change your mind someday. Thanks for writing a review!

Really Nice Course
I loved this course. It is a challenging course, yet it will not beat you up to the point of defeat. I really loved how spread out this course is. Very rarely do any two holes come in contact with each other. I'll be back when I can splurge for the green fees again as this is one of the more expensive courses in the San Diego area. But well worth it.

A touch of class
The course seems to get better with age; the lady on the cart helped me get a cart, ask me how I was doing during the round and helped me to my car afterwards. The starter got us out early and was friendly, too.
I recommend taking a business partner to this place and to all my GolfNow buddies.

Scenic views with challenging golf
A beautiful way to spend the afternoon, challenging holes and a great view. Only down side play was a little slow.

Great views.
Great views.....a lot of elevation change. The course. Makes you think and hit most of the clubs in your bag.

Great Experience, Pleasantly Surprised
My buddy and I were very pleased with our experience at The Crossings. It was my first time playing there and he had played several times but warned me that it would be slow play. We were pleasantly surprised that the pace of play was great, virtually no waiting to hit and no one was waiting behind us though they had a full tee schedule. The staff was very personable and helpful. We got paired up with two singles who were regulars, knew the course and were great company. The front nine is easier than the back. Lots of elevation changes and narrower landing areas on the back. Tough the first time out but anxious to go back now that I've seen all the holes. Going to put this course on our regular play list, can't wait to go back.

Fun, challenging course.
This is a well laid out course. A great course for the risk/reward play. Challenging greens; especially if you are on a different tier than the flag!
Hi Jwgothard,
My name is Danielle and I am the Communications Coordinator for The Crossings! Thank you for writing your review of the course! It's definitely one of the more challenging courses in the area. Thanks for visiting and we hope you come back again soon! (The greens get easier to read after a few rounds)

GOLFING AT CROSSRAODS
BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR PAYING GOLF. UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT BRING MY A GAME TO THE COURSE AND LOST SOME BALLS.
Very good
This course has a new superintendent that has taken an average public golf course to and excellent public golf course. The fairways were green and the greens putted fast and true.
Notable muni course
The Crossings is comparable in quality of course and facilities to Torrey Pines, minus the ocean views, The question on the evaluation form relating to walking or riding is a non-sequitur. You can't walk the course. The back nine in particular is like a biathalon-- driving through canyon terrain and stopping to play the holes. And they are challenging, with a premium on hitting the fairways. Greens were all in great condition. Would like to see a SD county rate that would bring the green fee closer to Carlsbad resident rate.
country club feel
What a nice place friendly people course was in very good shape with fast greens.
he only problem some of the tee's you need to hike up to reach.
Over great place to play love the elevation changes,
I would play there again and will
a challenging course
my buddy and I played 9 holes before we ever saw a beverage cartwe been stopped by the snack shack and they were out of turkey sandwiches and out of hot dogs due to ordering problems seems this ordering problem happens a lot that is whyI stopped playing here. this is a great challenge and course but if you like to eat while you play bring plenty of your own food.
Great views and challenginf for all
Great course and great views. Ocean on the front, hills and valleys on the back. Greens are very undulating and you need to be on the part of the green where the hole is located or 3 putts will be common. Long distances between some holes would make walking not advisable. Very impressive overall!
Its an adventure. Anything but boring.
Playing was so slow after the 9th hole it got dark before we could reach the 17th hole.
Exciting, interesting and beautiful. Adventurous!
Thanksgiving in San Diego
On a beautiful day in Late November I made a tee time for a round the day before Thanksgiving. Arriving at the course I was greeted and directed to the pro shop while my bag was loaded onto a cart and driven around. The pro shop staff took care of my booking and got me out and on my way. The starter got me off early so I could catch another single. The course is in great shape. The only detraction to this course is how any errant shot is probably in an environmental area and a penalty. Otherwise, Enjoy!
Busy Place
I play The Crossings when ever I come visit family here. Challenging course with lots of places to have "blowup holes"by losing balls. Since the course is difficult and lots of first time players, pace of play is always an issue.
Great service by staff always. Beautiful facility.
Great club house
Fun course hills & views of ocean
Staff was great wonderful restaurants
Problem is pace of play
The course is full value for the cost, however the pace of play was pòor. No course marshals. Three groups on some tees. Was not able to finish the round because of darkness. Four and a half hours for fifthe entire holes. Unacceptable.
u450673948,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review! #10 was difficult for me the first time around but after playing it a few times I've figured out the club that lands at the widest part of the fairway (for me). It's tough to know that the first time through. Hopefully next time you might enjoy that hole a bit more! We'd love to have you back! Thanks again!
