View from 11th. Tee The Crossings @ Carlsbad Photo submitted by boldsirbrian on 11/27/2012
Not worth the money
Pretty course, very tough, very narrow. The starter almost convinced me to ask for my money back with his arrogant, condescending attitude. Felt very uncomfortable here and will never go back.
crossings
This course was in excellent shape and u enjoyed my game very much.
I was fortunate enough to be paired up with a local gentleman who guided me around the course. While the course is not especially long it is challenging and does require some local knowledge to score well.
Ensure that you have plenty of time to play the course as it is spread out over some 400 acrespecially.
Love the elevation change
Great course. With outstanding views of the ocean and surrounding area. Holes have good variety that require different shots
great course but slow pace
I was very impressed with golf course.
This remained me about Colorado mountain's courses(I leave in Denver) I guess we just got unlucky to play behind slow groups. If you a good golfer still play from the whites- you will have a lots of fun. We had, except, it took us over 5 hours to finish.
The course has a great layout
Great layout overall. The front nine is challenging but you can score well. The back nine is a challenge. Bring your "A game"
Terrible experience
My husband and I drove down to Carlsbad from Orange County to play the Crossings which had been recommended to us. We were paired up with a beginner and his friend who could care less about pace of play and ready golf. The people behind us were displeased but they were less than tactful in their rude outbursts. The guys we played with then intentionally stalled. which then got the course marshall involved who was so rude and basically hovered over us through the remaining nine holes. My husband and I felt like innocent victims and quit after 9 holes to spare ourselves the drama. Course marshall was less than professional.
A challenging mountain course
Nice golf course, friendly stuff members. It is worthwhile to play a few more times.
good test of golf
Interesting layout with a few quirks but overall fun to play and a course that will test most aspects of your game. If they had some fairer greens (similar to the redone 18th) the course would rate very highly -- but they have over-tricked many of the putting surfaces.
Great golf day
It was our first time playing here. I wonder how many golf balls I will loose since there are so many lavines I have to cross. Need to hit to the left or right so the ball can roll down to the safe place. Did not loose any balls. Love the challenge on every hole.
The staff is very nice and the GPS on the cart works great. We would play here again in the future.
Ocean views
I used my $25 from golfnow to help with the green fees to make it only $23 which is a bargain for this course. Even at $48 it's a good deal. The green had been aerated a couple of weeks ago but still putted very nice. The back nine is very different from the front and, I think, better. But both are very challenging and picturesque.
No pace of play or course supervision?
Course was busy for a Monday. Staffs concern seemed to be to get as many people out, as quickly as possible. I was paired with another single, and was sent out to play as a twosome? We were stuck between several very slow foursomes, which resulted in long wait times between each shot. Never saw an on course marshal, tees, fairways, and greens were jammed with people. The net result was a 5 hour plus round. Very sad, as the course is in fine shape and very challenging. They just need to get the people hitting from the correct tee boxes for their skill level, and to address the flow of play. I will not return soon!
Customer service
The greens were difficult as they were punched recently but we had a great time. Excellent customer service, each and every employee went out of their way to be helpful. Lots of smiles around the entire place. Paul in the proshop bent over backwards to help us get on the course and make our experience pleasant. THANK you.
Gorgeous and fun to play
Have played here before. Had out of town guest and brought here to enjoy the fabulous views. It is somewhat difficult but still very enjoyable.
Nice Layout for Women
Its target golf, but I never felt like it was unfair. The course played well from longer set of forward tees. It gave long hitters opportunities to hit driver on almost every hole, but short hitters could also get to the green in regulation. The greens were well constructed with tiers and challenging reads. I would definitely play this again.
Great fairways, but greens were just punched and sanded.
Crossings is a solid track with good tee boxes and dense, well maintained Bermuda fairways. Unfortunately, the greens could not be evaluated this time due to the thick layer of sand that had been applied the day before. The carts are very good and have excellent GPS technology available to view the holes on a large well lit screen. On the downside, the lack of maintenance in some of the non-playing and rough areas detracts and should be improved to justify the relatively high price on this ocean view course.
Ocean View from some holes
Great course when you want to beat the heat, with its ocean breezes. This course was alot of fun to play.Rolling hills, elevation changes, plush fairways with tight fast greens.nice clubhouse with ocean view.will be back very soon.
Good Course
I can only say that this course was challenging but yet we had a good time. I've only been playing a couple of years and the first time I played I had only been playing for about 6 months and ever since then I wanted to come out again. 2 years later it satisfying.
Beautiful location
The course was much drier and more playable than the last time I played there. It was hard to hit a poor iron from the almost perfect fairways. All the people working at the course were friendly; but need to hire more people that are naturally that way or work at not only telling them how to act but how to be sincere about it. The exception that day was the starter: he was both friendly and sincere. You could use him as an example for all your employees. . .he could work for me any time! I wish I had gotten his name to be more explicit; but he was there at 12:30 when I tee'd off and also was there at the turn.
A must
Several friends recommended that I play here and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. The course is in amazing shape. It offers incredible views of the valley and ocean. It's easy to find for anyone traveling like myself. The course offers a variety of hole styles all of which are very challenging. I played three courses while I was down here and this was far and away my favorite.
Great fun
The course give you a chance to use every clubs in your bag. Challenging but fun. Local knowledge helps a lot as the terrain is not very forgiving.
