Mystic Dunes, a Hilton Vacation Club

First of all, I generally hate reviews. This is actually the first one I have ever written. I find that most people pick out all the bad and forget the good. That being said, it still bothers me 4 days later, that I paid $$$ and wasted a round on this course. I booked the tee time for 4 of us on a short 3-day golf vacation. We stayed at the resort and figured it was very convenient, especially for the first day. The accommodations were great and the staff, including at the golf course were very nice.

Unfortunately, the golf course itself should have had a warning sign at the front desk of the pro shop. There literally was no green on the course. It was like they forgot to pay the water bill months ago. You could tell the course was probably pretty nice at some point, but not anymore. There were at least 3 occasions where one of us had to move our ball on the green in order to not putt through a crater. If you had to make a 5-footer, good luck. The only good thing was you didn't have to worry about repairing any ball marks or fill any divots.

Hilton should be completely embarrassed. If they were charging $40-$45 bucks with a sign saying the course is under renovations, it would be one thing, but this just felt like a robbery. There are way too may courses in the area to waste your time and money.

When arrived went in the pro shop and the man behind the desk asked "What are you here for? " ProShop staff were not friendly at all. The started was great to talk to and helpful. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were a mess. Some of the greens should not even be in play. I definitely would not recommend playing this course at all. Not even if they offer a free play.

Haven’t played this course since before Covid. Got a hot deal so thought we would try it. Wow what a mess. We couldn’t believe how they have let this place deteriorate. The greens are really undulating and fun but it’s a shame how they have been let go. Almost unplayable. Fairways are in poor shape and very hilly. Some of the layout and the design of some holes don’t make a lot of sense. No clear landing areas and oddly placed bunkers. All the par 3 were ridiculously long at 170 to 200 yards. We played 20 rounds of golf on various courses in the area this winter and this course was by far the worse.

Greens are in horrible condition. Still charged us 100 plus to play

Bermuda still dormant so fairways mostly sand. Greens inconsistent with bare areas, invasive grasses, and fungus. Expected better for high/season price.

This course was Bad, the tees were bad, the fairways were bad, the rough was bad, waste bunkers were bad and the greens were bad. This course layout was good and challenging but the course has not been maintain for a good while and does not appear to be getting any maintains soon . Beside the guy who check us in in the Pro Shop and the Starter we never was another worker. This course needs a major make over. We got on this dump on a" Hot Deal" for $75/each and it was worth $0..75/ each. I can not believe Diamond Resorts International/ Hilton can put their name on this placed , This resort is huge but I don,t know how they could sell any of these homes/ condos/ time shares to anyone interested in a golfing resort based on its present condition. Writing this review sadden me because this course could be as good as any in the area based on its lay out .

The back nine is in horrible condition. Greens front and back are full of weeds. Front nine was in much better shape but this place has gone downhill. Wait staff in restaurant were great. I will not be back until they change ownership or fix the course. Driving range is a cow pasture. Spend less money on pro shop apparel and more on the course. We saw NO workers on the course grooming anything.

This is the first review of a golf course I’ve ever written. Don’t waste your time or money playing this course. It is clear that whoever runs this course has no intention of maintaining it, pay a few more dollars and pay somewhere else. It is a shame because the layout is good and facilities could be. Pro shop/restaurant great/ friendly staff. I understand winter conditions and that Bermuda goes dormant, but course overall in rough shape. Very sparse grass mostly lp laying off hard pan/ bare lies in areas a better player would hit the ball. Bunkers either have no sand or way too much beach sand/not manicured and just dumped in the general area of the bunkers.

Greens infested with crabgrass, causes putts to jump multiple times, greens maybe rolling at 5-6. Just give up on the grass range Ann put some matts out. Tee boxes in bad shape, wasted a day of vacation in laying here, don’t do the same.

The price you pay here on the app is just to "hold" your tee time. Its still 70 plus to play. Course is burned up and patchy. The layout is good but thats it. Its at the back of a estate gated community and I feel that's what you are paying for. There are way better deals out there and this just wasn't worth it.

Do not waste your money worth about $30 a round at best, I’ve played a lot of courses in Florida and this was the worst condition of them all. For a regular tee off price of $109 plus tax is a joke, fairways are bare, greens full of weeds and tee beds mediocre at best.

It’s one thing to spend money on a resort off course amenities, but totally ignoring the golf course ???? surely, one has to put money into the course itself and all resources needed to make the place better.

Than the course upkeep itself is poor, patchy greens, not cut, rolled, watered etc

I had Played southern dunes the morning of; and it was like night and day the difference between the two courses.

- 3rd time playing MD thinking it would be any different but nope.

We would have appreciated it if the staff had been honest with us upon arrival at the club house, the course was totally burnt out and so dry it was crispy, there were leaves every and it looked like there had been no irrigation on the golf course for years. When we approached the club house after our round about the conditions of the course he mentioned that they have had problems with the irrigation for several months and acknowledged the course was in bad condition.

I would not recommend this course to anyone, over priced.

Since we booked through Golf Now, we were advised to contact Golf Now and have them call the club house so they could discount the cost of our golf, in addition we feel you should remove this golf course from your Web site as it does not show well for you and your reputation.

We were also told there would be a cart girl on the course so not to stop at the club house in order to keep play moving, we never saw her once throughout the 18 holes. When we asked the club house person he said they sent her home at 3:00 pm which meant we had been on the course for over 3 hours at that point and never saw a cart girl.

Being a user of Golf Now for a great number of years I would really encourage you to remove this course form you Web Site immediately

Not an happy golfer

This is the worst course I have played in a very long time. There were literally big patches of sand in the middle of greens (see photo).. The tee boxes and fairways weren’t much better. It’s a shame because this course used to be fun and in relatively good condition but I will never be coming back here again. And to charge the amount that they charged almost felt like an insult. They must be trying to take advantage of the spill over from the higher rates over at Disney.

Now that Hilton owns this property, I hope they invest money and apply some TLC to bring it back to its' potential. The layout is fine but the conditions are not near other courses in the immediate area. Celebration GC and many others provide a better value for a low handicap golfer. Mystic Dunes has unpredictable and `rock hard greens that fail to hold even your best shots.

Hilton can surely restore this gem.

This use to be an outstanding course… but honestly for $20 more you could have played many different courses. In the condition it is maybe max price $65 (being very generous) tops $40. If you are here on vacation and want a bad experience go here or spend the extra $20 and get a great course down the street at Disney

The course lay out is good but the condition was deplorable.

We played 3-1-23. Course is in good shape. Tee’s fairways, and collars are over seeded. Greens are not but are rolling good and true. Few greens are bumpy on the front but overall great layout and good experience.
