Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Good but not as good
I’ve played this course a few times over the last 5 years. It’s still good but the greens aren’t as good as last time I played here. It’s still winter and I’m sure it will improve. They always seem to do a good job here with maintenance.
Second Round at The River Club
We enjoy this layout and all Staff we have encountered have always been friendly.
NOTE: This is NOT/NOT a course for beginner golfers. It requires a moderate skill to play and hit the ball straight with some distance. It's more difficult when it's windy and it gets windy there. Lots of water hazards to navigate; right and left so please, pick up and don't search for balls, as there are plenty of alligators. The greens may look slow however, they are a nice speedy pace and run relatively true. The fairways were in decent shape considering the lack of rain for many weeks. Many of the tee boxes were dirt with no green spots to place your tee. The pace was messed up due to many twosomes permitted out. The starter was able to pair groups in the middle of the round, which helped just a bit. Watching people playing off the wrong tees, searching for balls that had sailed well into water, placing carts in wrong spots and putting like you're on a Pro Tour is painful! Please, on all golf courses keep up with the group in front and pick-up when you are at past two shots over par and not yet, on the green! Paid $48.00 Hot Deal for afternoon round and that is max from our perspective.
Added fee for credit card use
Been to this course many times before and never been charged for using a credit card to pay. Big turn off! Booked through Tee Off and they never charge any fees to book. Guy at the counter said it was a new fee the course started charging. Never again.
Just OK
Course is just OK. Would not play again unless I got a good deal.
However it looks like they trying to improve it.
Starter was great!
Embarrassing
Gold course was very bad. Not one aspect of the course was even in fair condition. I am surprised anyone plays there. It appears they spent all their money on the club house. It's a shame because the course design isn't bad.
Play elsewhere
Terrible course conditioning. The course is over watered. There are more weeds than actual grass. I played here 2 years ago and hoped it would have improved. To make matters worse our cart died on 15 and not even an apology from the staff. Play Waterlefe or University Park for a little more $$$
Crazy conditions but nice experience anyway
Nice golf course . Pleasant and quiet. Well maintained fairways. Not much diversity between each hole but still somehow challenging.
Great bar and restaurant facilities. Free range balls which is a substantial plus.
River Wilderness Country Club
I played this about two years ago and it was terrible. Was told a new owner was putting money into the club. Well if they have I would get my money back. First of all my t time was not until 10:30. I could not get ANYTHING to eat not even a cup of coffee.
Then the course. DOG track. And they do not seem to care about the pace of play. I watched on every t box guys hunting for golf balls. I mean if you want to look for your ball that is one thing, within reason. But these people fished out a few balls each on almost every hole. They call this a country club. Absolutely terrible
Sorry
I originally played this course in 2016. At that time I thought I had found a jewel. By 2019 they had let everything go. Fairways, greens and traps. I said I would not play again. However, there was an opportunity to play for a reasonable amount of money considering the high cost of all courses in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. I was very disappointed again and for $83 I felt there was no worth in the play. Additionally, there was no way to get anything to eat either at the turn or cart. A terrible roundwhich found the area around the greens overwatered and very soggy. This course is not worth the ride or cost.
Subpar Golf Course in a Very Nice Neighborhood
The Club has a lovely clubhouse, very friendly staff, updated carts with GPS, paved cart path, and a very nice layout. Too bad, not a dime has been spent maintaining the actual course. Weeds, bare spots, wet spots on a very dry day, rocks in the sand traps and lousy greens. Yes, the price was reasonable but I would have preferred grass.
