Bad course
The conditions of this course are horrible and the fact they charge what they do is sad. Greens were either full of weeds or had dead spots everywhere, fairways were like a motocross track, and the course layout is underwhelming. Not to mention you have to pay $20 just to get into the park. You couldn’t pay me to play here again.
Not in the Best of Condition
The Lakemont course front nine greens had not been mowed and many were also bumpy. Some of the fairways on both nines had bare patches of dirt. Play was slow mostly due to a tournament going on at the course. This is scenic golf course that is in need of some TLC, before I consider playing it again.
Greens need to be saved
I’ve played this course many times and lately it’s been at its worst. Many greens are in terrible shape. For the price they are offering, I don’t find it fair.
Pricey for the conditijns
For the money, 100 plus per person the course and greens should be in better shape. Pace was good
This is not playable course.
This course is like abandon no condition to play golf... Green is worse no greens and has lots of bald spots and fairway is awful.
Has major potential
I play a lot of golf, probably 80 - 100 rounds between April 1st to November 30th. I’ve played a lot of high end courses (The old course at St Andrews, the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Victoria National, AK Chin Southern Dunes, and many more) The course layout, the course architecture, the nature, and the state park scenery are phenomenal, it’s as good as any course I’ve been to. The issue is there are a lot of bare spots on this course and some of the greens are not in good shape. The staff is very friendly, and the clubhouse pro shop and restaurant are beautiful.
My round was $76 (and it’s $20 just got enter the park), this is not a $76 green fee course. If I had known how bad of shape the course was in, I wouldn’t have played it. A round of golf here should never be more than $25 - $30 dollars.
Greens need some help
We enjoyed the layout but the greens were in pretty bad shape. Looks like they aerated recently on some of the greens and they were sandy. Not a problem in my book. But other greens looked like they have some type of disease and you just had to putt and hope for the best as it bounced around, on dead spots, sandy spots, diseased parts, etc. We provided a lot of gimmes if they got close enough. But we loved the layout and said this could be improved so much if the greens were in much better shape. I give the greens a 1 out of 10. Layout 7 out of 10. Fairways, a 5 out of 10.
Greens Terrible, Fairways Poor
I can't think of a time or place tha had worse greens than this last time I played at the Stone Mountain Lakemont course!
Terrible Greens
I've played this course many times over the years but the greens this time were in terrible shape. I can't think of a time I've played anywhere where the greens were worse than this time at Stone Mountain.
Great layout
Great layout, course was a little burnout from summer but overall good value.
Special shout out to the starter on Lakemont, Randy, who was able to pair me up with someone going off the back when the other 3 people in the tee time cancelled. He went above and beyond to ensure I wasn’t stuck behind foursomes and his hospitality was second to none!
All but the greens
Course was in good shape. - greens were in ready rough shape.
Greens are ruined
EVery season they say they are going to get better and they never do. They were absolutely impossible to putt on. It was wasted tme and money. I'll never be back.
Not worth the money
Unfortunately, Stone Mountain Golf has significantly gone downhill over the past few years. The tee boxes and fairways are patchy, and the greens are borderline unplayable. On a Sunday in August, there was no cart service around the course selling drinks and snacks, and the practice facilities are less than desirable. The $93 fee plus $20 to park makes the course pretty much unplayable at this course. There are courses in the area in much better condition at nearly half the cost. It's a shame, this used to be one of the better options in the area.
