Good Scenary Golf Course
very good scenary golf course with Stone Mountain. panoramic view with lake and stone mountain. but some fairway and green were damaged and too slow green is hard to present golfers best play.
Course Conditions Not Good
Course conditions continue to get worse. They really need to work on it.
Very Disappointed
The course is very scenic; however, the course conditions were terrible. All greens were rolling extremely slow and several greens had bear spots and ruts filled with sand. The conditions of the course does not support the charged green fee. At the very least the staff should warn guess to the course.
Don’t waste your money
June 2025. Don’t waste your money. For $125 you’d expect the course to be in great shape. We played the Lake course. Greens were horrible. Some hadn’t been mowed in several days. Some mowed that day. Some partially mowed. Some with large areas that were dead. No sand in the sand bottles. Had to walk out to the range to find an empty basket. Poor mgmt. Won’t return.
Don’t Play here
Although I did love the layout of the course and the nice trees this course was not worth the $100 tee time that is instilled. Most of the tee boxes were pretty much sand and almost half of the greens looked like the asphalt parking lot. There was no marshall to keep up with the pace of play so our round was almost 6 hours. The golf carts were extremely slow and could sometimes barely make it up the steep slopes on the course. This course needs to be $40 MAXIMUM. The range was a joke, $8 for a small bucket which included about 15 balls or a large which was $17. Would not recommend 2/5
Beautiful location. Lakemont back nine awful
Played the lakemont course and while the front nine was absolutely amazing the back 9 was a completely different experience. The front nine has amazing views of Stone Mountain across the lake and course conditions were outstanding. As I drove the half mile or so to get to the back nine it was no where near the same. #10 looked like I was playing in a field almost not even worth hitting. The back nine of lakemont felt like I was playing a $20 course. Considering I paid $100 to play and $20 to get in the park this was not worth it. I would love to go back and see the stonemont course set up but as of now I wouldn’t want to take a friend simply for my experience on the lakemont back nine. Quite disappointing to be completely honest and felt like a waste of money by the end of my round.
Would not recommend
Fairways were atocios, huge patches and muddy areas. Greens were pretty bad with sand in the middle of green on some holes. You have to pay $20 just to park. As far as value goes worst value in Atlanta. $70 to play and $20 to park. $90 to play a $40 course. Would not recommend.
Needs some work
The traps were not in great condition. It's been 25+ years since I played stone mountain. The upkeep has definitely gone downhill. I remember this course being kept much nicer than it is now. We have had an abundance of rain so I'm chalking it up to that and will be back as I enjoyed the round.
Tough greens
If you play Stone Mountain play Stonemont. Lakemont is good but the rains made the course challenging. Good course layout, nice pace of play for a Friday morning.
Bad shape
The course was in terrible shape. The greens and fairways had so many issues with it. Additionally, seems like a major drainage issue. So many spots on the course where you stepped in and were engulfed by mud. The price is outrageous for the conditions of the course
Poorly maintained, but lots of potential
Course layout is really cool with lots of variety and challenges, but the course was a mess at perhaps the peak of the season. Mud in nearly every fairway, greens diseased, and every tee box was a complete mess…like no grass at all. For this price point and for the fantastic design, it’s pretty sad. Also…be prepared to pay $20 to enter the Stone Mountain State Park…it’s not included in your green fee…making it even less of a value.
