Greens need some help
We enjoyed the layout but the greens were in pretty bad shape. Looks like they aerated recently on some of the greens and they were sandy. Not a problem in my book. But other greens looked like they have some type of disease and you just had to putt and hope for the best as it bounced around, on dead spots, sandy spots, diseased parts, etc. We provided a lot of gimmes if they got close enough. But we loved the layout and said this could be improved so much if the greens were in much better shape. I give the greens a 1 out of 10. Layout 7 out of 10. Fairways, a 5 out of 10.
Greens Terrible, Fairways Poor
I can't think of a time or place tha had worse greens than this last time I played at the Stone Mountain Lakemont course!
Terrible Greens
I've played this course many times over the years but the greens this time were in terrible shape. I can't think of a time I've played anywhere where the greens were worse than this time at Stone Mountain.
Great layout
Great layout, course was a little burnout from summer but overall good value.
Special shout out to the starter on Lakemont, Randy, who was able to pair me up with someone going off the back when the other 3 people in the tee time cancelled. He went above and beyond to ensure I wasn’t stuck behind foursomes and his hospitality was second to none!
All but the greens
Course was in good shape. - greens were in ready rough shape.
Greens are ruined
EVery season they say they are going to get better and they never do. They were absolutely impossible to putt on. It was wasted tme and money. I'll never be back.
Not worth the money
Unfortunately, Stone Mountain Golf has significantly gone downhill over the past few years. The tee boxes and fairways are patchy, and the greens are borderline unplayable. On a Sunday in August, there was no cart service around the course selling drinks and snacks, and the practice facilities are less than desirable. The $93 fee plus $20 to park makes the course pretty much unplayable at this course. There are courses in the area in much better condition at nearly half the cost. It's a shame, this used to be one of the better options in the area.
Stone 🏔️ review
This layout and design was likable but the greens made me not want to putt and my putter is my favorite club in the bag. Some greens were decent but majority of them were super unhealthy. I understand the climate and the humidity makes it difficult to grow grass consistently, but some of the greens looked like they had been destroyed. I would comeback and play if the greens were manicured a little bit better.
Ehh
Sure the course looks good but the greens should be in better condition for this price
Fairways and greens need lots of TLC
Several fairways had lots of washouts that have clearly not been repaired in months. Greens not any better.
Really poor conditions
I played this course a few years ago and it was a great value. Now the conditions are very poor . Bare fairways, and very poor greens. The staff was nice enough to give us a partial refund at the turn.
Awful Course Conditions, You couldn't pay me the green fee to waste my time here again
Where to start? I guess at the tee boxes that aren't level and have larges patches of sand craters. Next when you get to a fairway you're lucky if it has grass and not more large sand craters or washed out to mud. When you get around the green the fringes are mostly burnt out dirt. The bunkers are more like erosion models for a geology class, really cool to look at but completely unplayable since they're now mostly just gravel, a little sand on the sides and mud puddles in the center. Finally when you get to the "greens" they are all cut to a different length making figuring out putting speed impossible. If that wasn't bad enough half of the "greens" are straight up mud with zero grass but they did punch them to aerate the mud, so they got that going for them. Some "greens" have different types of grasses and weeds growing in them, too. One "green" even comes with its own bunker in the middle of it which would be really cool if they actually meant to do that. Worst part about all of this is I tried to nicely tell the pro shop and their response was "yeah we know" followed by a string of different excuses for each issue I brought up. I played in June & August and both days in peak season were unplayable. Save your money.
Not worth the price charged
Greens were okay - no real complaints. Fairways were criss-crossed with large and small patches of bare ground and pebbles which result in unplayable lies. I am not a fan of courses that penalize you for a great tee shot. Also too many par 4s with sharp dog legs less than 220 yards away from tee box...thus you can't hit driver.
Course not well maintained - not worth $85
Front 9 Great, Back 9 Needs Work
Front 9 of this course was pretty good. Greens were in good shape and tee boxes weren’t totally chewed up. Fairways were pristine. Front 9 was more technical. Back 9 left much to be desired. Course was very dry, tee boxes were dry dirt on many holes, and several greens were burned without grass. It looked like they are fixing the greens on Stonemont course, so maybe this will be next.
Course has gone downhill
I used to play here all the time, it was a great value for money before Covid. Since Covid it has gone downhill, the greens fees have doubled and the course conditions has significantly deteriorated. Fairways are full of brown areas with no grass, most greens have no grass and are wet patches of mud mixed with some rolled weeds. Speed is inconsistent and they are in terrible condition. I would not play here again unless conditions are dramatically improved.
