Comfortable conditions, but very straight, not very interesting
Indian mound is a fairly straight forward playing course. Greens were extremely slow, and course conditions were typical for the summer weather. We felt that the employees were welcoming and professional. Overall, an average course, not challenging, and very straight
Greens matter
Cup edges are scraggly and clearly haven’t been moved in over a week. They apparently get water if & when it rains and that’s it. Give us better conditions with greenkeeping staff and we’ll fill the tee sheets and pay more for that value. No real effort seems to be made.
Enjoyable Round
Enjoyed the round. Fairways were excellent as well as the greens. Very true roll. Tees were mostly good. Will play again.
Enjoyable Round - Friendly Staff
My 2 adult sons I played the Pine Lakes course. We enjoyed the course layout and condition. The traps were still a little wet from downpour the night before. Excellent driving range and large practice green. Various tee placements allows for family friendly play. The staff was courteous and efficient. All in all a very enjoyable round of golf. Would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Great course for a great price
for the area you can't ask for a well made course for such a reasonable price
Sand traps need more sand…a few were mainly dirt. Otherwise the course was very good. We played on a Sunday and the pace of play was very slow.
Played twice
I played this course after the heavy rain ended and the again after the course had dried out. Over all it is in nice shape although you will find a good many of the white and gold tee boxes are bare. There are a few greens with bad spots as well. If I had paid the $70 green fees listed I would have giving it a lower rating. I used a pay now and save plus my $10 monthly credit. This is a great course for $45. It would not pay $70 to play it though.
On the average, all of the Jeykll courses are overpriced for the course conditions and maintenence levels they have at this time. As a former Greens Chair for a small private course with reasonable dues, our minimums were to have fantastic greens, practice and on course to run the same on the stimp meter, well manicured tee boxes, and firm approaches. I'm sure the maintenence crew is short staffed and not held to any standards that elevate the golfers experience on a well maintained course.
I had a tee time with a good friend and daughter. The course we had a tee time for was walking only due to rain the day before. We were upgraded to another course. Even getting squeezed in pace of play was acceptable and it seemed the staff did a good job keeping it moving. We had a beautiful day and good time together.
Great Golf Now Deal and course.
Golf Now comes through again. Played the course for 33%off regular price. All 3 courses are very nice and fair for golfers of all abilities.
Nice recreation area course
This was my first time playing this course. Opted to play 9 holes due to limited time. The pro shop is well equip. The people are pleasant and helpful. Check-in straightforward. Queued up at the first tee and found a 5-some group in front of us. The starter told them to break into 3 and 2. Later on they returned to being a 5-some. However, they did let us play through. Primarily visitors and tourists at this course who are visiting the island. The course condition and layout is good. The greens were in good condition. I enjoyed playing the course that I'd like to return some time to play a full round. We had a good round and overall experience.
Seen better days
I’ve played all three 18 hole courses at Jekyll Island over the last forty years multiple times. This complex of public courses used to be a bargain but my return to play Indian Mounds this year was a disappointment to say the least. The corse layout is interesting enough but the course conditions were unacceptable. Mid June should be the time of year when the course is in top shape but instead we found bare patches on tees & fairways & the putting greens were like
Corduroy. I didn’t ask staff if the greens had recently been aerated or had other work done on them but in any case the greens were close to being unputtable. The worst lack of maintenance however were the conditions of the bunkers. Now to be fair, they had a significant amount of rain over the previous days but the compacted sand conditions that we encountered were not due to that, they were mostly like concrete. After being in a couple traps, I even stopped trying to rake out my footsteps since they left almost no indentions in the compacted sand to begin with & to get the tines of the rake to penetrate into the sand was more work than it was worth. All of the bunkers need a deep rototlling for a start to recover them, totally unacceptable. I won’t be back until management gets their act together.
