Nice recreation area course
This was my first time playing this course. Opted to play 9 holes due to limited time. The pro shop is well equip. The people are pleasant and helpful. Check-in straightforward. Queued up at the first tee and found a 5-some group in front of us. The starter told them to break into 3 and 2. Later on they returned to being a 5-some. However, they did let us play through. Primarily visitors and tourists at this course who are visiting the island. The course condition and layout is good. The greens were in good condition. I enjoyed playing the course that I'd like to return some time to play a full round. We had a good round and overall experience.
Seen better days
I’ve played all three 18 hole courses at Jekyll Island over the last forty years multiple times. This complex of public courses used to be a bargain but my return to play Indian Mounds this year was a disappointment to say the least. The corse layout is interesting enough but the course conditions were unacceptable. Mid June should be the time of year when the course is in top shape but instead we found bare patches on tees & fairways & the putting greens were like
Corduroy. I didn’t ask staff if the greens had recently been aerated or had other work done on them but in any case the greens were close to being unputtable. The worst lack of maintenance however were the conditions of the bunkers. Now to be fair, they had a significant amount of rain over the previous days but the compacted sand conditions that we encountered were not due to that, they were mostly like concrete. After being in a couple traps, I even stopped trying to rake out my footsteps since they left almost no indentions in the compacted sand to begin with & to get the tines of the rake to penetrate into the sand was more work than it was worth. All of the bunkers need a deep rototlling for a start to recover them, totally unacceptable. I won’t be back until management gets their act together.
Oleander
Booked a tee time fo myself and my two sons, got there thinking we were going to play pine lakes. After checking in with the starter we were informed we would be playing oleander, which I replied “isn’t it a dump”. Starter tells us ohhhhh no it’s great!!!! Well the fairways had 2 ft tall blades of crab grass all over them and the greens looked like a smorgasbord of different grasses not to mention they rolled like shag carpet. Definitely not worth $64 a person will never be back.
Great for the Money
Overall very satisfied with the course. Awesome layout and great scenery. Not bad for 60 bucks
Afternoon golf with son
Great afternoon of golf! Took my 14 year old son. If you’re coming to the Golden Isles you should play gold at Jekyll Island.
This is my second time here recently and both times the golf cart has ran out of battery mid round.
Unexpected surprise
We came up from Ponte Vedra and friends from Atlanta and played on Pine Lakes. First time I played the course in eight years and was pleasantly surprised, just goes to show you can’t believe all the reviews as we play golf a lot and this course was very nice and in great shape.
Nice layout
Nice course layout with challenging holes and greens on the small side. My only complaint was that all the flags were red so you had no idea the depth of the pin and gps in the cart was not all that accurate.
Slow play
On the turn a foursome jumped in front of us… said they got lost and played the wrong course. There was just two of us but they insisted they should tee off first. By hole seventeen we were stacked three groups deep on the tee box waiting. No marshal or starter to be found. No other issues than that.
Great day at Pine Lake!
Course is in great shape and the greens are rolling true. Some weeds in the rough, but only on a few holes. The gators were not interested in us and the deer were everywhere. Beautiful morning!
From tee to green the course was not in great shape. A lot of the greens look like they are burnt out. It’s impossible to get food here. Can’t even grab a hot dog at the turn because it’s a 30 minute wait for anything. The restaurant closes at 4:30 which is weird considering it was a Saturday. We did not enjoy ourselves playing this course at all.
