Great Value .. YOU need to play this course
Great value.. friendly staff.. This course can be a Challenge
Tanglewood in Taylorsville, KY
Right is wrong! Almost any shot to the right will run off the fairway and into trouble. Holes 11 and 12 are particularly nasty. That being said, the course is a fair test and some of the holes, especially those over water, are beautiful. I'll be back.
Great value
This course was surprisingly in good shape and challenging, for the price you can’t beat it, staff was friendly and professional. Will definitely play again.
Nice course
Nice course, cheap rates. Tee boxes were mowed, greens were fast, fairways were mowed, rough wasn't to crazy. Staff is incredibly friendly, grilling out burgers, brats and dogs fresh andyou can tell that they care and our putting their best effort into the course. It's way better than where it was a few years ago and had improved every year I've played it. Definitely need to practice your side hill, uphill, down hill, diagonal hill, backwards around the corner hill lies and shots as no shot here seems to play from an even lie. Lots and lots of blind shots so I suggest having a golf app that shows the hole layout if it's your first time playing here. Its definitely worth the play for the price your gonna play. I've paid more to play worse and I've paid waaaaay more to play a little better courses. All in all it's a fun course that I will put in rotation on the play list. 7/10
Cold start but nice day
This course is very challenging on most holes. You need to be aware of banked fairways and play them accordingly. The greens were in great shape overall; however, the locals don't appear to own ball mark repair tools. We had to fix several holes on most all the greens. I hate to say it, but we find this a lot throughout the country. It was a little damp today with all the recent rains, but the course was in very good shape overall.
Course is in great shape
The golf course is in great shape, greens are in great shape, a great course for the price
fairways under repair
Greens were good, but around fairways and in fairways there was some ground under repair, as they were tilling most fairways
Nice course. Most was very scenic. You get what you pay for.
I couldn’t resist $11.00 for 18 with cart. Had been wanting to play based on friend recommendations. Certainly worth the cost. Greens overall in good shape and tested your putting skills. Fairways OK, some in good shape, some not. A little tight in some areas, tee boxes and cart paths close. Tee boxes atrocious., but who cares?
One of the first times using this service to book a tee time. May not be worth the additional $10..00 surcharge. GolfNow needs to tack on a surcharge?
Good experience
Enjoyed the round – many elevation changes - wide fairways – fast greens - quite challenging for a first-time player at this course
GOLF TRIP 2018
Our group of 16 golfers just played 153 holes of golf in 4 days and everyone had a great time. The staff was great to work with and made our trip very enjoyable. We look forward to next year for another trip to Kentucky.
Sorta a disappointment
It had been a few years since we have been in this area and played this Course . The greens and fairways were not in very good conditions and because it is a tight course there were quite a few players hitting it into the other fairways sometimes on your way. The pace of play was very slow and made for a miserable game! No ranger.
There are too many good courses around so we would not recommend or be back.
Not Knocking Staff or Course
So I have played here 5-6 times this year on golf now. I don’t live near the course so it’s about an hour drive for me to get there. I like the course as a whole, the layout is fine even though it has a few quirky holes. The main reason for my low review is the sad pace of play issues and complete disorganization of the pace of play. My group had a tee time and had to wait on 3 groups (stay and play packages) who came off of 18 and proceeded to cut in front of us. We were nice enough to let 2 of them through but on the 3rd group I said something to them and they let us proceed. Took about 3 hours to play the front, a miserable pace. The back was much faster as these groups in front of us quit and went back to their rooms for a break. My only complaint is this, why have tee times when you don’t have anyone on the first tee organzing groups or setting the tee times for the stay and play groups. I probably will not return here on a weekend due to just the trouble it was to get 18 holes in. The course is fine and greens are decent shape and very puttable.
Strong 3 Star Course
Don’t interpret the 3 stars as a negative. Tanglewood is a very nice -and much improved- public course. Course maintenance is obviously a priority. The greens are in great shape and while fairways may not be as lush as most, they are mowed very neatly and the rough is clearly and appropriately cut for recreational play. The layout varies between both open and narrow fairways. Wildly errant shots will be penalized but only a couple of holes require precise tee shots. There are a few blind landing areas but due diligence to make sure the course is clear ahead of you before striking your ball will eliminate surprises! All the staff we met were super friendly and helpful. I played here several years ago and said I’d never come back due to course conditions. A GolfNow deal brought me back with our regular foursome and I’m glad. Again, don’t let the 3 stars fool you. This is a 3 Star course but I would rate it as an 8 out of 10 for its class. (At least it was on the day we played) I will be back.
Friendly People
This is a great value for the money. I can not believe how friendly the people were and the ones in the community. We will visit again.
How slow?
Need a marshall! After waiting on #1 for 20 minutes for two groups to go and they were waiting on a couple players to return from McDonalds? Would not let us start. Took over a hour to play 3 holes. By the time we got to 11 there were no groups ahead of them and still no etiquette. So we left.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to review Tanglewood Golf Course. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
