Nice Track, Horrible Greens

A green gem in the middle of the desert turned into a bust when we arrived to find out the greens had just been aerated and sanded. Overall the course was dry but the patchwork greens of holes, sand, and areas of turf really took the shine off the experience. I would not go there again without first checking on the status of the greens.

Worst greens ever

We have played the beautiful lakes course before however this time the greens were the absolute worst we have ever seen. They were punched 3 weeks prior then sanded and we were not told this as well as the green's maintenance keeper has done A horrific job keeping the greens nice.. I feel people should be told this prior to making their tee time because it could be a deal breaker to play there until it's in better condition.

Help

This used to be a place where you knew it was gonna be in great shape. That is not the case anymore and it's very disappointing. These courses, lakes and desert, are in bad shape and need a lot.of help.

Course in very bad shape

Every green was covered in sand and in the process of reseeding. The fairways were extremely brown and thin. Most of the fairways on the desire course are sloped, so players must take this additional challenge into consideration. Definitely, not worth the drive down there for the green fees charged. Much better courses that are well maintained closer in.

Wait until about June to book a tee time.

Never played on a worse condition course!

Was booked for Desert and upon arrival was told they had major water problems so they changed us to the Lakes course.

The greens were in such bad conditions we had to play every one as a two putt green. They were either heavily sanded or with big squares of placed cut green patches with obvious cut lines.

Fairways weren't terrible but blotchy enough the we had to play improved lies.

Upon leaving we asked the cart guy what the heck happened, because we've played these courses many times and loved them. He said they lost their course superintendent a few months back and the new one just started a couple of weeks ago.

Bottom line is if this superintendent stays it will take a few months to repair everything to a playable state.

awesome layout but greens need TLC

1) layout is awesome. some. great looking holes

2) pace of play was fast. we played in 3 hours but that’s because no one was on the course . we teed off at 11 am and done by 2 pm. right in the middle of the day , so fast

3) the greens need TLC. all the greens were 1/10 for conditioning. once they fix the greens I will play it again. but if they don’t fix this greens I think there are better places to play.

Wait 2 to 3 months from now to play. AWFUL NOW!

Played both courses quite a few times thru the years. Almost always in good to great shape.

Now Desert had some sort of water damage so was changed to Lakes course.

ALMOST UNPLAYABLE!

All greens were in various stages of repair and sanded or with squares of grass here and there. Had to play all as 2 putt greens!

Fairways we're very spotted and rough.

Upon leaving the cart guy told us they have been without a Greens super and short on greens keepers. That they just hired a new Sup't about two weeks before.

Save your money and don't attempt play for at least 2-3 months... assuming the new guy stays and they give him what he/she needs to get the courses in shape!

In sad shape, but still enjoyable

The staff is terrific, and the course is challenging. Sadly, the greens are a disaster, with just little clumps of grass here and there, on a sandy bed. Probably the worst greens I've ever seen; almost impossible to putt on. The T-boxes are okay, and the fairways have a little grass here and there on the Lakes Course. The Desert Course is probably unplayable. The staff is aware of it, and I think they're struggling to bring the course back, but it appears the owners won't put up enough cash to restore the greens and replenish the fairways properly. I'd rather spend more money and play on grass.

Fun round, good price, but those greens

This could be a great course, but the greens are in terrible shape and really ruin everything else that’s going right. Can’t complain about the cheap price and it was a fun course to check out. Probably won’t be back until those greens are fixed.

Wait a few months before playing!

Checked in today and was told the Desert course had sever water and drainage problems so they sent us put to the Lake course.

We've played there many times before and always thought it was great.

Fairways were really rough and almost all the greens had damage and were sanded.

After the round we were told they haven't had a greens manager for months and just hired a new one that was met with a disaster to fix.

Played Desert course

First time at this course and found the desert course had just recently been aerated. Winter conditions, grass yellowed out turned dorment. We had high winds hitting around 12:30 and continued tell end of day. Practice balls where free and placed on the range. Looking over to the Lakes course it seemed that side was built with different grass and greener.

Great course, terrible greens

Played the lakes course and while the course is in great shape, lush green grass and real sand in the bunkers, the greens are the worst in the country. Every green under repair getting ready for summer I guess. Punched and full of sand on every hole. No beverage cart and the bar closed at 2pm so you can't get anything after your round.

Disgraceful golf course

I had played here a decade ago, and thought it was a wonderful Tom Fazio designed track. However, a recent return was a major disappointment - it's like the golf course has been abandoned and now has become a disaster area. Frankly, it's very sad to see.

If that wasn't bad enough, our starting time was delayed 90 minutes so we couldn't finish

What the heck happened here?

I used to love coming to this place. It was a short 40 minute drive from Vegas and 36 holes. But my god what has happened here in the four years since my last visit?

The good: range balls are now on the range, and it seems like they’ve been upgraded. The practice area is quite large though it is hard to see range balls land on the hard pan.

The bad: pretty much everything else.

The starter: he was too busy with his phone and talking with another employee about something on his phone to help get me paired up with the others in my group. When I got frustrated with him I sarcastically said “sorry to bother you and went to the cart”. He was so clueless that he thought I was being serious and said “oh no, you aren’t bothering me”

The cart; it still had a half-eaten burrito on it. The wrapper was still warm when I picked it up to throw it out at the range. No telling if it was still there from a morning round, was the starters breakfast, or something else

The pairing: again the starters fault, but had no idea how to get the people with each other. Because of this I never met with my group. I caught up with a threesome on hole 2, but there was a single in front of them and a foursome in front of them. Behind me was another foursome.

The course: OMG. What the heck happened? This used to be so nice. This time of year there was generally a woman’s NCAA tourney there with lots of name schools. This was more suitable for an off-road derby. The greens were no better. Covered In a strange green mush. I’ve played oil and sand greens that were better - and probably had more grass.

The pace of play. Unbelievably slow. Due of course to the lack of focus on pairing groups correctly.

The wind - not the courses fault obviously, but a 25 mph wind started in the third hole just to top it all off.

I’d love to say I’d be back again, but I can’t. It’s too bad. There’s a great layout but this now is barely a golf course.

Horrible shape

Course was almost unplayable. Punched, sanded greens. Bare spots on greens and all over the fairways. Had to bump the ball many times. Next time, how about a heads up on the course conditions? Was a 3-1/2 hour drive!
