Golf course/dog course
Played this course last summer, nicer then. This time we shared the course with dogs and dog droppings. There were also children playing in the sand areas, of concern to us regarding their safety. This is overall a lovely course, nice visas, challenging runs, comfortable pace. Not sure when it turned into a community park, hoping it can get back to being just a golf course ~
shared course
lovely and somewhat challenging course. last time we played it was great, this time there were some obstacles, dogs running loose, children playing in the sand, and, lots of dog droppings on the greens! When did this lovely course turn into a public park? will try again this spring, hoping more attention can be given to making this lovely course all that it can be!
Great winter conditions
Played the Hills yesterday (March 12, 2018) and had a thoroughly enjoyable round. The starter was bit “surely” (he seemed stressed and continued to call us up to his starters hut 20, 15 and 10 minutes prior to our scheduled tee time which completely interrupted our warm up routine). But once on the course was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions. Although the grass is winter brown, the fairways were well groomed and the ball sat up beautifully. The greens were “green” and rolled true and fast...highly recommend this for a nice winter course in the Reno area!
Hills and fun
While it can get chilly playing golf in Reno, NV. In March, it can be fun too. I was fortunate enough to get paired up with a threesome of buddies. Besides enjoying some terrific views of the snow capped mountains, I laughed at a lot of funny commentary too. The Hills Course is like the name implies, up and down with plenty of elevation changes. Not a walking course.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The ProShop staff helped with course explanation and described some of the hole locations. The starter was friendly and accommodating. I brought my own “stuff” so I didn’t need the cart bar, but it looked well stocked.
I enjoyed the trip and am looking forward to the next time.
Early season
Greens are a little bumpy....
.....cart path only right now is a pain
Red Hawk
Girlfriend and I loved it. Got a great green fee price on Golf now. We will be back!
Wish We Were Told
First of all we traveled 2 1/2 hours to play. We reserved a room in Reno for 2 nights and we're excited about the trip and golf. When we arrived the staff took our bags placed them on our cart. We checked in and was sent to the starter. We putted on the putting green for a bit it was awesome! I told my husband the greens are fast really nice. We tee'd off on 1 on the Hills Course got to the green and it was freshly plugged! GolfNow was not made aware I phoned they always post aerated greens. We would have never played had we known. I made GolfNow aware so our fellow golfers have a choice!
Overpriced and the most annoying golf carts anywhere
I've played here many times and here are my issues: GPS carts that will not let you near the green or your ball unless you're in the fairway, they won't let you in the parking lot.... super annoying. The greens have some really strange tilts and subtle angles, putting here is difficult. The fairways need water, for a course that's surrounded by "lakes" the grass is brown, our local muni has nicer grass. Sand, sand, sand I hit more bunkers here than any course anywhere. Way to many bunkers. Finally the pricing. This is a $50 course tops, there are scads of $35 &$45 courses in northern California that are way nicer.
GREAT Time
One of the best places that I've played. Course was GREAT, only problem was my ball didn't go where I wanted too all the time but that was my problem. Layout was great, enjoyable and fun to play. Bunkers were in good condition and I got out of tem every time better than my Key West Fl course. I hope I get to play this course again before having to return to Florida. Tee boxes were like walking on a sponge and all of them were clean. Greens were in great shape, Fairways were also in great condition.
Overall
I am handicapped and the carts do not accommodate people with foot issues. The course fairways were terrible. They were basically dirt!! Then to make matters worse they overbooked and the staff did not manage the players! We had to wait 20 minutes on each hole!
Solid Course
Red Hawk treated my brother and me very well. Pro Shop guys were nice, starter was very friendly, cart girl was great, and the course conditions were solid. Driving range has mats. Most holes on the Lakes course are pretty forgiving. Wide fairways with plenty of room. However, if you miss the fairways you're in trouble. The course won't wear you out, but you still have to make good shots to score well. I'd definitely recommend this course.
Nice course!
Except for a rather odd encounter with the bag boy who was new I guess, it was a great experience. Got a little tired of the golf cart barking at me all the time. The GPS didn't like me being in the rough all the time. Got a little old.
Hills course
Great course. Every tee box felt good to the eye with a driver in hand which is nice. The only course I've played in Reno area where the greens bite on any type of shot. They're really soft! Greens also putted really smoothly. Having short par 3's even on black tees is really nice (one long par 3 was good too). Some challenging rough in spots although you really need to miss to get into it. My GPS wasn't working to start round and Marshall drove in and got me a new cart. I played solo on a Monday and finished in roughly 3 1/2 hours. Great layout and views. I highly recommend to play here mid week. It was a blast and a steal for the hot deal at $37!! My new favorite course in Reno.
Fun interesting course
I usually play muni type courses. So this was a treat. Totally fair feeling course wideish fairways with much elevation change. Especially on the back nine. I would happily play this course again. Also less break than appears on the greens.
Nice course
Course was in good condition. Greens were not consistent. Some were fast and others were slow. Sand traps need to be filled up with decent sand and the rocks removed.
