Slow play
Everytime i go by the 9th hole its back up. Sometimes l back 9 can take 30minutes a hole. Some of the slowest golf ever. I usually end up skipping holes. Never seen a marshall making people move faster.
Good early season start
First time my wife and I played this course. The red tees were particularly good for her as most of the holes did not present her with a hazard to go over and this made the round very fun for her. Fairways and rough were in good shape for this early in the season. Greens were a little slow and took getting used too, probably also due to time of year. Course was very fair on most fairways you could swing hard off the tee and keep it in play. We will be back. Great value and a very fun day.
The old and the new
Red Hawk in Sparks NV has a old school feel in many way, the kind of old school that makes golf one of the worllds greatest institutions. What makes Red Hawk new is the unparralelled modren approach to everything from your carts own gps to the details that allow for a world class golf expereince.
Hats of to the Staff ot Red Hawk "Excellent Job Well Down"

Terrible pace of play
Got stuck behind a foursome that was both wasted and terrible. The back 9 took roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes to play. There was no Marshall on the course to spend them up. Practically ended up playing with my foursome, a threesome and another foursome because the group in front was so slow!
Fun
Played the lakes course challenging but fun. The course is worth every penny. Made a tee time for winter rate because everything in the Reno area is way over priced in the summer. But $42.00 from golf now not bad. If you thinking about food Dave's bar and grill looks fancy but totally thumbs down on that place I'll save my money next time. I got a quick bagel and cream cheese before my round but who in the he'll brings out Frozen cream cheese any way the pro shop the guy working in there in my opinion thought he was holy than now kinda rude. But I wasn't there for the amenities I was there for the golf fun challenging and had a good day. I do believe that that staff at this complex needs to work on there customer service skills though I'll be back hopefully to play the hills course next time
Golf in March...The Lakes will challange and reward
The Lakes represents a layout for all levels of golf. From the tips one has to thread each drive to that just right spot and the greens are ready to hold all approach shots. The greens are made for brave putts...speed and break make each green a unique experience, all good.
The staff was spot on at each step of the golf outing. The course maintance team has done a great job of keeping the entire course golf ready and the carts are in great shape.
One ah ha moment was driving #17 240 yrd Par 3 across a small lake with the snow covered mountains in the back ground.
I'll be back again to check out the other course.

Red Hawk Lakes Golf Course a Golf Course or City Park?
Is the Lakes golf course a golf course or a city park? The beauty of the Lakes golf course has gone downhill. What used to be a great golf experience has become less like being on a golf course and more like golfing at a city park. The Lakes golf course holes 6, 7 and 8 have become a "city park" with dog walkers, skateboarders, bicyclists and a lot of non golfer, foot traffic even when players are golfing . Also, watch out for dog waste along these cart paths. GC needs to address this issue.
Please disregard the previous post. The Lakes GC management is working on making things better.
Outstanding!
Great course, friendly staff & perfect layout!
Excellent greens with very comfortable pace of play... Highly recommended to all skill levels!
fun course
started 2:30 but not enough daylight didn't finish. do not offer t times later than 2:00 pm can not complete round.
Enjoyed
Very nice course. Enjoyed my time. Pace of play just a tad to slow.
Very nice course!
I would definitely play this course again. It was challenging but playable and well worth the golf now rate.
Red Hawk Lakes
Course is in excellent shape. Greens are true. I would definitely recommend
Beautiful day
Played as a twosome on a beautiful day weather wise. The hills course was in very nice shape and greens were fast. we just cruises along and finished in 3 hours and 10 minutes, WOW! Great time and lunch was very nice too.
Course has a nice layout.
Third time playing the courses over the years. Played lakes course the first time it open. A lot has changed for the better. For some reason I don't understand why they don't rake the bunkers daily. Staff was great.
Not what they adervised
It was a very warm day.
The sign at checkin said they have a cart available for refreshments.
So, here is the problems with this course.
NO cart for refreshments showed up in over a 5 hour round.
Second, NO water available on ANY hole.
Third, On the Hills course there is NO availability to stop at the bar/resturant to obtain even water.
I was not aware of that fact as this is the first time i have ever played this course.
Bottom line. Red Hawk advertises that is it a premier course in the Reno area. I found that to be absolutey not true. EVEN muni courses have water on SOME holes. If i had known that there was not going to be a cart service on the entire 18 holes or an opportunity to purchase food or water/driinks after nine holes i would NEVER have played this course.
Horrible experience
Bring your own water
Played this course on a Saturday afternoon 1:00 T-time, sunny 90 degrees. Arrived with great expectations after reading the reviews, once the pro shop had my money it all went downhill from there. Signs posted all over the place "No outside food or beverage" which is normal, I am ok with that, signs posted saying beverage cart is on the course, perfect. Had a hard time figuring out where to park the cart for the driving range until the all in one, starter, range attendant, groundskeeper, janitor told me to just park it anywhere. Round started great good course if you hit it straight, over 100 bunkers on the course, greens in good shape just not consistent through 18. Ran into a foursome on the second hole that took forever until the turn where we played through, NO MARSHALL anywhere around. Was a 90 degree day, no water for drinking anywhere on the course, and low and behold NO beverage cart anywhere also. Overall good little course with tons of sand but it had that country club appeal but delivered the community course feeling. Too many good courses around area to play again.
Wonderful course
Great course with a challenging layout that can be mitigated by using easierT boxes. Sand needs some maintenance, but fairways and greens were near perfect.
First time playimg
The cost of round is every worth it. The course conditions were perfect. The greens ran true. Customer service was also awesome. Most definitely I'll play this course again. Tell a friend.
Beautiful Hill Course
We played the Hill course. The staff was helpful and friendly at check in. There is a long way between the clubhouse and hole number one. They had a beverage chart on the course, stocked with whatever you might want. The course was very well maintained. The cart paths were excellent. The only downside: we got back in about 7 p.m. and the clubhouse was locked up. Even if we had wanted to go in to buy a shirt or whatever, no one was around. Other than that, we really enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day of golf.
