A lot of water
Was an interesting course. Long par threes. Course was in great shape for this time of year.
very nice
Didn't like the fact that it was cart path only on a very windy day, it made the round longer than it should have been
good design on lakes course but too early in season.
unable to cart on course due to grass grow?? rates should be discounted for seasonal play, otherwise good stay at villas.
amazing corse. Horrible customer service at check in!!
I always love this corse. It is in better shape than other corses in this area.
We reserved 2 spots on golfnow.com and then realized that we had 2 more friends that wanted to play. I went back on golfnow.com and there was only 1 spot available for the same tee time so i bought it. I then called in the morning to add our fourth player and the guy on the phone was very nice and accomadated or needs.
When I checked in the guy proceeded to tell me that we made it very difficult by making reservations with golfnow.com and that it was a real pain the way we made reservations.
If they are going to do business with golfnow.com they shouldnt get mad when people use this service.
I will continue to use golfnow.com and I will continue to golf at Red Hawk I just don't think that we were treated the same way that he would have treated a member or someone that paid full price.
Hole placements only drawback
The Greenskeeper must have been having a bad day. Not only were most of the pin placements in the most difficult position on the greens(very undulating greens) but the color coded flags were wrong almost every time. I've never played the course before and you can just imagine how getting deeked on how deep the pin is on the green will affect you. Doesn't help when both of us in our group do not have the best depth perception.
play again
I'd like to play it again without the rain and wind
Nice Round
Havn't played Red Hawk in 7 years, had a great day! Course is in 8/10 condition, greens are nice, few spots on fairways need some work. One theme though playing the Lakes ...BUNKERS!! Never played a course with more bunkers. I was in 6 times, my playing partner hit the sand 15 times ! They seemed to be placed right at his drive range. Good cart with GPS, although the cart had a mind of its own if you violated the cart path only rule on 3 holes, or too close to green. (cart would slow to a crawl till you cleared forbidden area). Nice amenities, ordered food from cart. No drink carts that day, off season I guess. Some VERY challenging holes. 17 is 200 yds over water with nowhere to lay up. Fed the fishes on that one. Overall good value at $50/round through golfnow.com
FAntastic Value
This is a beautiful and well designed course. The views of the Truckee Meadows are astounding. Each hole is challenging without being punitive. Well bunkered, but with entry into each green without forced carry. I played the blue tees and my wife the combos and the par fours very from under 300 yards to over 450 (downhill from blues). Well maintained green complexes running about 10. Give it a try you will not be dissappointed.
One of my favorites
Red Hawk - Lakes Course is one of the finest courses in N Nevada. I play there about a dozen times per season and usually finish in 4.5 hours or less; good carts with GPS.
The fairways are a little sketchy this year, probably due to the dry and windy conditions of the past winter. I have found this to be the case with all of the courses in N Nevada this season.
great fun
the lakes course is great fun--excellent variety, lots of sand and water. makes for an excellent outing!
Good course, good condition
Enjoyable course, good layout, but our round was quite slow
Very good value for the money
this is the 2nd time that i played this course. The wind was blowing on this day making the course much more challenging playing up or down hill. I live on the edge of the course and it has been a private only course, so I could only look out and wonder if i was ever going to play.
Play on a private course
My husband and I played this private course a few times while in Reno this summer. The course is a nice layout that winds its way around the homes in the community. Even though the Hills Course is private it gets a lot of play and rounds can take close to 5 hours, or more if there is a tournament.
Unfortunately, due to the freezing temperatures, and lack of snow and rain in the Sierra's this last winter all the courses in Reno were in pretty sad condition.
Both courses at Red Hawk are worth playing but not at the rack rate, and especially for the condition they are currently in.
One of the best maintained courses in the area,
When you think it's time to test your metal, and your woods, come out to the lakes at Redhawk. Water, sand, dog legs, and hazards line a layout that is fair, pitting reward against risk, accuracy rewarded, length respected. The staff has always paid close attention to green maintenance, fairway trimming, and graduated the rough cuts to increasing levels of irritation. It's just right. The clubhouse and restaurant compliment the course, and makes for an enjoyable, affordable day of golf. Shoot in the '80's? This course won't ruin your handicap.
We played the "Hills" course. A lot of terrain changes on the back 9
One of those courses you have to play twice. We did and shaved a few strokes off. Practice area was nice except hitting off mats.
Good beverage cart service.
Not a "cookie cutter" course. Back nine has a lot of personality. Front nine is also pretty good.
Nice restaurant/bar.
