About Crystal Springs Resort
Crystal Springs Resort is a 4,000-acre playground located only an hour across the New Jersey state line from New York City. It is one of the country’s largest golf resorts with six courses - Ballyowen, Black Bear, Cascades, Crystal Springs, Minerals and Wild Turkey – and three driving ranges. The Grand Cascades Lodge houses 220 guest rooms with an inspired welcome: An outdoor putting course leading to an indoor lobby with high ceilings, wood beams and a stone fireplace. Both it and the 175-room Minerals Hotel feature their own spas and pools. Children will love the Biosphere, an indoor pool complex with an aquarium, vortex pool and caves, 140-foot waterslide and café, all in a tropical theme. Twelve restaurants are spread out among the course clubhouses and hotels, delivering a variety of menus and price points. Sand traps are terrible
Sand traps are hard as a rock and are filled with pebbles. This is not what I expected for a course associated with Crystal Springs. The tees on the 18th hole were actually set up on the downslope between 2 tiers. Really?
Play nine holes that took hours
There was no starter and there were 4 groups backed up. It took twenty minutes or more to play each hole. Was very frustrating and disappointing
Growing old.
Close to 5.5 hour round. No sand in traps. No rangers. No beverage cart.
Very slow pace of play
I will start with the positives great conditions great staff very nice layout
The negative the last 3 times I played the pace of play was horrendous! 5 hrs 5hrs 15 min the staff did give me a $40 rain check and yesterday 4hrs 45 minutes and all 3 rounds were on a Tuesday or Wednesday
Do NOT play there if there is a golf outing going on!!!
11 am on Father’s Day no hot dogs or food at the turn
Beautiful day almost perfect you could say until my foursome came around and found no one at the lunch bar/grill. Food all out and on display hot dogs rolling but no one there. Finally a young lady that came out that didn’t know how to serve food lol. Great course but just classic Crystal Springs not micro managing anything. Hey just bump up the round price and then we don’t have to serve food.
Backed up
For the money they should have a ranger on the course pushing pace of play. Too many outings, don’t know how members stand paying so much for membership to sit and wait on every hole.

course in great shape, greens bunkers and rough great. crystal is target golf, have to know yardage and where to aim. lots of bumps, mogels, and slopes. great course love playing here
2024 - Worst Shape I’ve Seen It In Years
Best part about the layout is that the holes are not on top of each other. Very difficult.
A fun and unique track. Well kept with the exception of sand traps.
Golf Zoo
I recently played a round at Crystal Springs Golf Course and had a rather disappointing experience. Surprisingly, the overall condition of the course was in poor shape, especially the tee boxes.
Additionally, I noticed residents jumping on and off the holes throughout the course. This not only disrupted the flow of play but also raised safety concerns. It was quite frustrating to have to constantly wait for people who were not following the course rules.
Moreover, workers were fishing in the water hazards, which was quite distracting and seemed unprofessional.
