Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Good Value
We played on a day they where expecting rain and didn’t get any. The course was not crowded so the pace of play was great. We played Rail/Quarry today. Both sides are a good test of golf. Conditions are really improving. Definitely worth the trip!
Fantastic views
I love playing in this golf course. Beautiful layouts and friendly staff.
I recommend Great Gorge
GREAT course
Great Gorge is in wonderful condition. From tee box to green you couldn't ask for anything more. My partner & I enjoyed everything about playing here. Highly recommend playing this track!
Fun.
Hadn’t played here in 25 years but had a morning off and booked a tee time on GolfNow. Reviews of good conditions were accurate. Very good fairways and greens. Terrific layout with dramatic views and changes in elevation on many holes. Well worth the $47 I paid.
Course condition is getting better
The fairways and the greens are getting better to the original forms after a few years of course closed. The pace is good which we finish in 3 1/2 hours.
Great Course
Beautiful course - Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Greens were fast and true - tee boxes and fairways in great conditions. Right next to the old Playboy Club. Remember the time when my folks used to bring me there back in the 70's. The course is in a lot better condition than the Playboy building.
Players make the course
The course has finally dried out and is starting to get tougher which is great. Greens have always been super and now are really rolling . I just wish the people who play here would learn to replace divots and repair ball marks on the greens so I can give this course a 5 star rating. My only other beef is that the owner refuses to open the kitchen early so those of us who play early are left to fend for ourselves. The starters Emile and Dan are first class and really make playing there feel like a private club. So happy this place has reopened!
Enjoyed this place.
Always enjoyed playing this course. Beautiful country setting that is set away from highways, etc. Pace of play was great, and it's inexpensive compared to other layouts in the area. We will be back.
stands the test of time
only really good courses keep you looking forward to playing them, this one does! great layout, views to die for, very nice club house. that said it has its needs- cart paths need help- bunkers better than most in area but need sand (you thinks sand is gold in nj) could use some smart drainage help but remember we just had wettest 12 months I ever seen.
keep the price fair and keep moving it in a positive direction
thanks see you sunday
Slow
Greens were slow and pace of play was extremely slow; took almost 5 hours!
Fairways and cart paths need repairs everywhere. This course does not drain well..bunkers are full of stones... not much improvements since the course reopened
Beautiful layout
I enjoy the round of golf every time I play there.
The course has beautiful scenery
I love the layout of all three courses. And well maintained
Great layout
Conditions continue to improve on this great layout.
Top notch
Course keeps getting better and better every time I play .The Maintenance crew constantly doing work and upgrading conditions. Lou And Pete Greet you with a smile and help with your bag and ride back from parking lot . Course is a great challenge greens in great shape as are fairways
Slow play
Very slow play here played several times last summer very crowded and never saw a ranger to encourage pace of play I've always liked the course having played it many times in the past. Pace of play is just too slow
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions and layout to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Great Gorge at Mountain Creek. We hope to see you again soon.
Had a great time. Course in good shape a little wet in spots but with all the recent rains not much can be done. Staff are excellent.
Excellent layout
The condition of Rail 9 was excellent. Lake 9 was a bit wet in spots, but by far the best conditions that I have played in the area this season. Played as a twosome and finish in a little one 3 hours. Pure joy!
Thank you for visiting us at Great Gorge at Mountain Creek Resort - Lake/Quarry Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Great Gorge at Mountain Creek Resort - Lake/Quarry Course. We hope to see you again soon.
