Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Coming back
I was excited to see that Great George was open again. Played it for years before. After seeing website I was set for a great new course. The course is the same. Cart paths the same, awful. Was really expecting more but for a discounted rate I'm ok. Just wished they hadn't billed it as a great new course.
Great golf
There are 3 great courses here that are all challenging in their own way. I think the Lake course is the most challenging, but the Rail and Quarry have their own unique challenges. Great design, great value and easy to get a tee time. Courses are always in great shape, with some tricky greens. And you can't beat the views. All topped off with a renovated clubhouse and a great staff. If there is one negative, its the cart paths.
They could use some work. Dont let that stop you from playing these courses.
great old course
really shows off the mountains of north jersey. course is in very good shape, still needs a cart path or two. please dont confuse bad pin cut with bad greens these are great greens, once apon a time they were kept a foot or two faster and really showed off a few false fronts.. keep it goin in the rite direction, missed this course THANK YOU!!!
What Amazing Shape
Course is in amazing shape. Well groomed fairwys and true and fast greens. First round I played since the course reopened and was not disappointed. Heard original grounds keeper is back and it sure shows.
Excellent price point and dealing with funky parking in the old and quite dilapidated Playboy Club lot.
Wonderful round of golf!
My hubby and I played yesterday, and we were so impressed with Great Gorge! We played Rail and Quarry....loved them both....looking forward to playing Lake the next time. Great value....and after our round, we went out on the patio and had a yummy drink and supper to finish the day! Tees, Fairways, greens....all in great shape. Very friendly staff all the way around. If it's your first time, go through the parking lot and continue to the bag drop at the pro shop. Then you can park your car. We WILL be back and bring our friends!
Playboy's special
Amazing greens great value very friendly staff several challenging holes...downside is there as lot of back and forth holes look forward to play railside
Great round of golf
Got off early and played fast. Fairways were in good condition and greens were generally good, but a little slow.
What a gem
Great gorge what a wonderful layout great character fast greens excellent conditions friendly staff , starter is wonderful great first tee shot off of Lake very challenging for all play levels recommended highly I drive an hour to play they're totally worth it Lake rail inquiry either nine hole golf course is a fabulous choice you will not be down Lake rail inquiry either nine hole golf course is a fabulous choice you will not be disappointed
Hot summer afternoon
It has been a few years to come back to play this course after the course closed for a few years before changing the ownership. The course condition is back to old good day in a very good condition. The green is always tricking to read.
It’s unfortunate
It’s unfortunate about the greens especially on quarry; lake is just a little better. Net net, tough course which is fine but the slant on the greens is completely ridiculous. They need to be redone. 3 greens we putt at the hole, uphill, ball stops and then rolls completely back down the hill off the greens. Many other greens you could not stop the ball near the hole. Just not reasonable. Won’t be back until fixed. It’s unfortunate as the design is nice and challenging
Conditions
The two nines we played Lake and quarry were in excellent condition great fairways and fast greens. The personnel we came in contact with clubhouse and carts were friendly and helpful. We will play again and recommend to our golfing friends
Great Gorge
New owners doing great job fixing the course up. Bought the senior deal. Great value. Price reduction this year is very fair.
Quarry to lakeside
We played quarry with no hold ups or delays. On about the 3rd hole of lakeside a foursome appeared out of no where in front of us and were very slow and appeared to be beginner golfers. There was no ranger apparent on the course and wished there would have been to help teach good course etiquette. Other than this the round was great and courses in good shape.
We played the Quarry and Lakes.
Both very pretty and fun to play.
Can't wait to go back.
Great course overall
Great cpurse overall. Can be a bit confusing for a first timer.
Quality Golf Experience
The tees, fairways and greens were all in good shape; the bunker and sand traps need work; the staff was very friendly and accommodating; the course has great scenery; the cart paths are paved and some need work; pace of play was good; ball cleaners on each hole; snack & beverage cart service, and shuttle service to and from parking are. This is a quality golf course that will test anyone's golf game.
