Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

LAKE/RAIL May 2018
Course is in great condition, a few soft fairways due to the past rains and a few bumpy greens near the cup made for an interesting afternoon. Pricing has changed this year. Most discounts have been eliminated but the standard price has been reduced. I was on pace to complete 18 in 3 hours however the last 3 holes held me back finishing in 3+30. Looking forward to a replay soon.
good day
Course is in good shape - however long - great service and 19th hole -
Fun, hard and can be better
The conditions were very good considering all the rain we’ve had. But still you can see the course doesn’t have the finishing touches of a top tier course. However the framework is there and we still had a great time on a deceptively hard course, especially the Quarry nine. We started on Rail, which is no slouch. Elevated tee shot to start. The first of back-to-back par fives stood out to me. Quarry has much more character and it is hard, even though it sports three par 3’s. The second is a beast at 220 from the green tees, over water to a narrow green complex. The par 5 with the silo is a logistic nightmare. Hit a good drive with a slight draw leaves you a second through a narrow shoot, over a ravine. Fun and treacherous. The round is somewhat surreal and spooking with the surrounding abandoned hotel looming, along with the overgrown out buildings and parking lots. If only those walls could talk. The clubhouse is adequate and has a decent bar. I think the course will get better if more people play this old 27 hole hidden (and I mean hidden) gem. It just needs a little more polishing.
Always in good shape.Pace of play was excellent.Very enjoyable experience.
I
Need better signs for Club enterance and on course hole directions
Great track
First time playing the here and we were very impressed with the course layout and condition despite recent rains. Greens were true and quick; several with false fronts and steep fall-off. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Great value!
Good day of golf!
27 holes of first rate golf. Can't go wrong playing here. Staff is great. Will be back.
My only criticism is cart paths need some work otherwise you will enjoy the golf.
Great Course
Despite the heavy rains recently the course conditions were very good
Very nice!
Always an enjoyable day at this old classic. Beautiful scenic layout with great views...I played Rail/Quary...the 2 best nines in my opinion. Starter was super cool...staff very friendly....free range balls and bottled water.....not country club conditions, but good enough.....great deal on Golfnow.....highly recommend....and by the way, the old Playboy hotel is still there...abandoned but still cool to see history !
Great course, especially for the money
Played at Course fir first time and found it to be in great shape and in a beautiful setting. Cart path was a bit rough in many places but plenty of care on fairway and greens. I played Rail and Lake courses and preferred Rail of the two. Would like to play Quarry course next time I play.
Course in great shape
The course was in great shape. Greens were very good. Tees and fairways very nice. Worth playing.
Way too expensive
This course is nice but crazy expensive. Not worth $80 to $100 a person. I used to play before the ownership change for $50 tops. Bring down your prices and you will have a ton more players.
Windy but Great Course
Cold Windy day but no one was there and finished under 3 hours. This course has a lot of character and is very picturesque.
GREAT COURSE
Great Gorge is in fantastic shape. From tee boxes to greens, everything was perfect. Highly recommend playing here.
