Great Time
Nice course, several spots with ground under repair at the moment. Greens had been recently sanded but were still pretty good. Rates aeemed to be discounted, it was a little cheaper than it has been in the past. I assume they factored in the greens and ground repair. I’d happily play it again tomorrow especially at the rate they charged
I really like the driving range, lots of targets and its setup nicely to dial your clubs in before you start.
The grill at the clubhouse is great and although we didn’t stop the grill located at 10 is a nice touch.
Besides being hottt 🥵. Had a great time
What happened to the Grandover Resort?
I’ve played both the East and West courses at the Grandover so when I was in town with some friends I was excited to take them there and get a round in.
When we arrived the staff let us know that the greens have been aerated about 10 days prior but over sanded punched greens were the least of the problems. The course was totally over saturated with the fairways covered with ruts from carts spinning their tires due to standing water. Not to mention on the very fairway and most green surrounds large swaths of sod trying to hide bare spots which were everywhere on the front and back. This was the worst conditioned course I have played in several years and I play a lot of golf. It he bottom line is Grandover…..do better, Until then, save your money and go elsewhere. The West course was an embarrassment and a ripoff.
Very bad day .
Not worth the money . Range balls not even included in price . Grounds crew driving in the fair ways and sand traps as we were playing. Trash over flowing most trash can at tee boxes . We teed off at 8:40 so some one didn’t do their job the day before . Black sand all over the greens . Poor condition for a “resort” . Starter no where to be found . We told be front desk to go off of 10. To find out later they then sent groups off of one , that slowed play down significantly.
If I was the owner multiple people would have been fired that day .
Range Balls are only $5 for unlimited balls if you are playing a round!
The staffing here seems to be the issue…. certain days have less ‘adult supervision’ than others, and certain starters are more educated than others. Some of the kids inside appear clueless whenever you ask them a question… plus there are way too many workers inside, and not enough outside.
There are some great, nice helpful kids working here, the problem being these are in the minority!
Beautiful course
The course was in great shape but the play was super slow. It took 3 hours to get through 9 holes then rained out. However the course gave us rain tickets to play again. I suggest playing during the week if possible. I will go back
Well run operation
I live in Raleigh and my friend lives in Charlotte. This resort provides two great tracks and we are grateful we can meet in the middle at Grandover every so often.
We knew the greens had just been top dressed that morning, so greens were slower than usual. I was surprised at the condition and lack of sand of a few bunkers. In fact a couple had no sand at all. But all in all the course was great and the staff even better. We will be back!
West Course
This is hands down my favorite course to play in the Triad area.
Always a great course and in good shape.
West course playing 9 holes is deceiving as it is not an 'out and back'
So if trying to do a quick 9 beware it takes a good 10 min cart ride to get back to clubhouse
Expensive Round for Cheap Conditions
This course was unbelievably poorly maintained for the cost of the round. I’ve played municipal courses kept in better condition. The tee boxes were not level and were mostly sand and chewed up grass, the fairways were full of weeds and ant hills, bunkers were full of rocks and pebbles, and the greens were inconsistent and overgrown. The pace of play was phenomenal, possibly because everyone else already knew not to play this course. The facility should be ashamed of charging their patrons the price for an above-average golf course and delivering a product that is barely comparable to a local pitch and putt. I will not return to this course.
Not worth the money.
Tee boxes and fairways in terrible shape. Greens were long and slow and felt like had to smash a 10 ft putt like a 30 ft lag putt to get it to the hole. Thus taking away all feel.
For half the money I can play a course in similar shape closer to home. Sad part $70 is winter rate and will go up closer to summer. Resort was beautiful and course not so much.
it has the resort vibes youd expect the course is well taken care of, staff very friendly even offered to let me play more holes to make up for slow pace of play which was not their fault ranger i spoke to was very friendly, greens rolled nice and were a bit firm from the recent colder months only downside was west cafe house was closed and they had no cart girl either but the course was good no complaints
yet they recently raised their prices! even when slow.
Most sensible people would call ahead to check stuff out.. especially when spending above $60.00
