About Sea Trail Resort Villas
The Sea Trail Resort Villas are located north of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and south of Wilmington, N.C. The property sprawls across 2,600 acres and features three championship golf courses. Villas span from one to four bedrooms in size and are equipped with full kitchens, all within 1.5 miles from the barrier island beaches. Indoor and outdoor pools are available to guests at the activity center, which also includes a game room, shuffleboard and more. Units feature a screened-in porch or balcony. Stay-and-play golf packages are available to Sea Trail Golf Club's Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd golf courses. Sea Trail has two clubhouses with driving ranges, putting greens and a PGA-sanctioned learning center.Facts

Don't waste your time
Should have requested refund. Played here years ago and it was a very decent course to play. Played in Myrtle Beach area for nearly 45 years , seems like they have given up on this course. It Truely is in bad condition.

Sea trail Dan Maples
Course was in poor condition, little to no fairways. Most of the greens were dead.

Disappointed.
My parents are property owners for 26 years and were one of the original families that lived on this course. I have played the Maples Course at least once or twice a year over those 26 years. It was in the poorest condition I have ever witnessed. Greens were slow and shaggy and some appeared to have Poa auunua type weeds on them, even though there has been plenty of rain lately.. Grass and weeds overgrown around the hazards. It was just really disappointing to see this course go downhill, when it was once outstanding. Please bring it back to the conditions I had grown to love.

Nice designed but poorly maintained.
This Rees Jones layout is a challenge. Probably was great years ago. The greens were very bumpy and slow for Bermuda. Hazards were poor. Hadn’t been maintained and made course look like a cheap muni. Practice area was embarrassing. I always look forward to golf in the Myrtle Beach area and try to play different courses. I can’t recommend this course as a must play. It’s a good design but needs some TLC to make it a must play. I also played World Tour , Avocet, The Surf Club, and Eagle Nest. Of all of those, Avocet is a must play and best maintained.

First time.
The course was in beautiful shape. I had the course to myself after passing one group.

Cart path.
This is a course full of dog legs that needs a lot of TLC. Cart paths will shatter your teeth. Haphazard mowing and a lot of crabgrass. Shaggy greens.

Not Great, but Fine
Played on a Monday afternoon and only person on the course. Cart attendant and pro shop guy were very nice and efficient, but literally the only staff I saw my whole visit. Nobody at the snack bar to get any drinks or food or ranger/starter/bev cart (it was a weekday, can understand light staff). Loaded up and headed to first tee.
Tee boxes were inconsistent: sometimes perfectly mown, sometimes with rough length grass, sometimes very patchy with big weeds sprouting up. Fairways were probably the best kept areas, rain in the area made them very soft however. Could not play out of any bunkers as they were either bare or waterlogged. Greens were patchy as well, ball hopped a lot.
I have to make a statement particularly for the cart paths as I was there on a cart path only day: WORST paths I have ever driven on. Almost needed to go to the chiropractor after. Roots have destroyed the pavement, they need a major overhaul.
Would recommend this course in the dryer seasons because the rain is a common problem here.

Better than expected
I remember when Sea Trail was a premier golf destination and I realize it's not what it once was, but the recent reviews had me believing this place was absolutely terrible. Fortunately I gave it a try and ended up playing all three courses while in the area for the week. Between the cost and late afternoon tee time availability, I'd recommend Sea Trail and play it again and again.
The greens were on the slow side but smooth and playable,
fairways and rough were in excellent condition, traps and tee boxes are decent.
Well worth $30-$55!

It was Ok not great course was very wet and greens were bumpy.

Over priced based on the name
The course is over priced for what you get. Fairways are in good shape but kept flooded with water. Three holes were cart path only because of the water. Greens are in rough shape and a couple look like they may not make the season. Driving range did not open until 9am so no warmup and the chipping green had not been mowed all summer. Save your money and try somewhere else.

The course has fallen in stature over the years. Beverages cart was slow and no more personal beverages is bad policy.
