High level facility
Amazing course, decent shape, could be a little more tidy on and around the greens, and tee boxes, but the price equals the value. Highly recommend. Would go back every week in the current conditions. Would pay $80 easy if it were in top shape. Pro shop lacks character and any decent merchandise at all. Very dull. Those are just picky critiques. Absolutely go play.
Perfect day for golf
The course was almost perfect and the day started out a little cool and foggy. But by about 1:30 the fog lifted and sun came out and course was playing great. The only reason I gave only 4 stars on over all ranking was there were 2 greens that could have been prepped a b little better and it would have been nice if the bunkers had been raked. Other then that I had a wonderful experience. I will be back to play again and would highly recommend this course.
Frosty's opinion
This was my first time playing the famous rock Barn that the seniors on the PGA tour play once a year...
And man it did not disappoint at all! Fantastic chorus at a reasonable price. Great amenities and friendly staff!
I would recommend this to all of my golfing buddies...
Good time on the course
Had fun, pretty good pace of play, course in good condition as we
Beautiful course
This course is awesome and is in great shape. They have just replaced all their golf cars and they are equipped with GPS had a great round today
New Golf Carts
Tee: A good selection of teeing area, well kept.
Fairway: overall in good condition, but the lack of sand use has made for a divot farm in some areas.
Rough: Not too long but because of the Bermuda grass, it is best to stay in the fairway.
Greens: The greens are very fast, the areas with grass are very nice, unfortunately many areas with bare spots or sanded repair areas.
Carts: Very new and unfortunately very high tech. Over use of GPS technology makes the course a little hard to take. For instance if you exceed 9 mph in some areas, they penalize you with a 5 second time out. Someone needs to understand that the GPS is not as fast as the cart, so you may enter a zone before you actually do, then you are back in a timeout waiting to get out of cart jail. The carts shut down and lock the brakes, many courses with Geo fencing just slow down the speed, at Rock Barn you get a time out. BTW, I was caught speeding once, the twosome in front of me were locked in place for a long time while I waited in the fairway. They did indeed drive too close to the green!!
I do not recommend this course until they get a handle on the cart technology.
must visit
place was top notch as usual, brand new carts w/gps and more, if you play and haven't played here , what's the matter with you?
Great Course
Although the greens had been recently punched I thought they rolled pretty well. I sort of like slower greens anyway. The course is in otherwise good shape. Bunkers are lift, clean and place as there are still no rakes. Fairways and rough were great.
We played in just under 4 hours on a Sunday so no complaints. Staff is always friendly!
Punched greens
Just punched the greens, great course but what a couple weeks
Fun plush course
Super plush grass well maintained and fun yet challenging
So close
The Jackson course has such great potential. While the views are not quite as nice as the Jones course, it.could be really good! A little work on the sand traps & replacement of carts could.go a long way for this course. The staff must realize the course is lacking , so they do nothing to build up your expectations. Very little info was shared by anyone in the clubhouse other then the carts will be replaced in 2 months. I'm not sure they will last another 2 months. What a shame, because it really is a nice course, with all the amenities you would want. I'm glad I had the chance to experience this country club in it's prime, it was GREAT!
Great Value for a Resort Course
heard nice things about Rock Barn and for the most part it did not disappoint. The course was a fun layout with very unique holes, several good par 3’s over water, and mostly good conditions. It’s a playable course with plenty of room to miss, and very nice amenities becoming of a resort course.
The course was in decent shape, but unfortunately greens were bumpy and had several burnt-out patches that reminded me of the 2018 winter kill season. Staff members were out watering the greens all day, and I hope they don’t lose the greens in the heat because I think they can be really nice when cared for properly.
It’s a bit of a drive from both the Triad and from Charlotte, but it’s an easy drive and for $50 on a weekend with range balls included, I think it’s a great value and I will definitely be back to play here again!
OVERALL: 7.1 / 10
Slow play
The course was very nice amd very friendly but the pace of play is very very slow if course the members act like they own the place and will not let you play through
