Best Value Around
$65 with cart, includes range balls. You just can’t beat that in the greater Charlotte NC area. The course has a nice layout, with a handful of challenges. Always enjoy playing out there.
Jackson course
This is a difficult golf course. Take plenty of balls. Try to get paired up with locals that can help you with course knowledge, as there are quite a few holes that will bite you if you hit what appears to be a straight shot.
That said it is in great shape, the greens are moderately fast and consistent.
I’ll definitely be back.
Golf
Great course. Can be challenging from the tips. If you hit the long ball, this is the course. Very friendly staff and definitely worth the price.
Bare tee boxes and hard greens
Several bare tee boxes. Overall course seemed dry and hard. Greens were hard and unreceptive, even solid 8,9 and PW’s would hit on front of green and run through to the back fringe. Play one tee forward from what you are accustomed to, as there are many forced carry shots.
Great Public Golf Course
I play this course often. It’s a great layout. Some challenging holes. Greens Fees include range balls. Great, friendly staff.
One of the best
This country club and spa is one of the best. Jackson course is public and in great condition. First hole is challenging with a long carry from the tee and a blind second shot. After that, the rest of the course is excellent. I would love to play here often but the rates are too high without Golf now discounts.
Rock barn sets the standard for public golf courses. The place is absolutely gorgeous. From the drive up to the clubhouse, to the facilities, to the complimentary range balls and the condition/layout of the course. Even the restaurant attached to the club house is top notch. The staff is fantastic and won’t let you lift a finger if you don’t want to. There’s not a better public course to play within 50-75 miles of rock barn. Do yourself a favor and make this a regular visit for your golf outings. You won’t be disappointed.
Great conditions
The course is maintained very well with good tee boxes, fairways, and firm, quick greens. There are definitely some DRASTIC elevation changes throughout both 9s that make it especially difficult to pick the correct number for first-timers, but overall it is a track I plan to re-play when I am back in the area.
Sweet
Staff is super friendly. Course is stunning. And completely fair pricing. Will definitive be back.
Very solid!
First time playing and came away very impressed. As a qualifier, I’ve played a lot of the top golf courses in the US and am always searching for a solid public course when traveling. This course absolutely fit the bill.
The round starts with a Par 5 that works left for the approach as you climb a hill and starts with a visual intimidating tee shot. From here, we were treated to several quality hole designs and surprising elevation changes. While not overly long, I found the course challenging from the tips as a first time player. The par 3’s were the highlight for me but there was no shortage of quality designs to the par 4’s and 5’s. The staff was very friendly and there is a nice range, putting green and short game area. I will return and absolutely recommend.
Finished a Sunday afternoon round in 3.5 hours. Course is in great shape, and still very forgiving as we await the rough to wake up.
Great As Always
The Jackson course is hands down best course in the area. The staff is extremely friendly, course is in great condition and layout is perfect. This is how a golf course should look. Other courses charge more and the courses aren’t nowhere near as nice as Rock Barn. It is the type of course where you hate to see your round end. Go play if you haven’t!
Amazing Experience
This course is best public course in the greater Charlotte area. It was in amazing shape and can only imagine how plush it is in summer. The fairways are like greens at some courses in the area and those courses charge more than Rock Barn, if you want to see what a golf course should look like, by all means play here. Be sure your sand game is on point, as their are lots of green side bunkers as well as fairways. Golf carts have covers on them, balls on range already and is included. The only negative thing I have to say is that the cart was dirty, coolers full of grass which was surprising to me with how nice everything is, if you have been hesitating to play here, don’t put it off any longer. I will be back very soon.
