First time playing this course
The course was in good condition. There is a lot of water lining most holes. The first nine you are playing into the wind, the back nine the wind is at your back.
God course but Too expensive
The course condition is good, both fairway and green. But if you have paid the full rack rate and expecting spectacular views then thou will be disappointed. There are some water views at the end but very average view. For me it turned out a great round. I booked a 4pm game at $75 and was able to start the game at 3pm. Finishing at 730pm, way before sunset.
Great greens and layout
As expected, from service to fairway and green conditions are in great condition. , I'm very happy with this course. Booked through phone for the 340pm at $50 rate, normally was 150. Green and fairway are very lush and well manicured as a premium course.
The only thing that I want to mention was for RV or camper golfers. Be warned they don't allow camper inside. But they do provide shuttle service thought out the resort. You just have to park at the administration office building and catch a shuttle over. I'm playing the link course today, was told it is even better, look forward to the round this afternoon.
Green great putting on greens of this nicr
Just a wonderful place to play golf in the area must play
Excellent Course, BIG TIME FEEL.
First, the staff was absolutely amazing! John in the pro shop was absolutely fantastic, he not only gave me precise directions around the property, he sent me out at the perfect time. You really have to understand the groove of the day to pull that off, he nailed it. Well done John!
Jon, cart guy was a lot of fun, and genuinely showed me the hospitality you would expect down south. I caught him at the end of his shift, so he was able to show me around the course. Which I appreciated, it almost felt as if I had my own personal caddie. I played really well, on a challenging Fazio course that I don't think I would have enjoyed without Jon's directions. Thanks a lot Jon, you were first-class man (special thanks to the leadership for allowing this to enhance your patrons experience.)
As far as the amenities, the driving range lives at the far end of the property, the balls are dispensed by a machine. Leave your driver in the bag along long woods. The range is maybe 215 yards long, it finesse driven situated on a island, very unique.
The course is awesome, tee boxes were perfectly cut, fairways were rolling evenly hardly any rough, and the greens were quick but very smooth. The back nine really challenges your shot making skills, considering how many par 3s the Harbor Course has. Par 5s for long hitters present a well of eagle and birdie opportunities.
I had a great time at Wild Dunes. My only draw back at Wild Dunes Harbor Course was a grounds-man by the name of Greg, very rude and abrasive disposition. Very rude to me and had negative things to say about the pro-shop. Which was funny because everyone I came in touch with were PHENOMINAL! Particularly the pro-shop guys.
I'll definitely put this course on my list, and recommend to everyone that can appreciate the level of Wild Dunes. Keep up the good work guys!
Great course
I played this course a few years ago and today was my first time in a long time. Wow! I love it! The course is in amazing shape and it is challenging. It is pricey but if you are willing to spend the money I say go and play it. Just remember to stock up before you tee off because there isn't a turn to grab something to eat or drink. We played early so the snack cart wasn't around much.
Under-rated resort course -- old-school challenge
Guests at Wild Dunes all tend to focus on The Links Course, but The Harbor Course is every bit as good. People also think of it as much tighter than The Links, but frankly, it didn't seem any more claustrophobic. Great stretch of holes along the Intracoastal Waterway (9-11), and entire back side runs along marshland. Some LONG drives between holes, but just follow the signs. Layout is by Tom Fazio and Mike Strantz -- two great architects. Greens are tiny, but scheduled to be renovated. Lots of OB/hazards, but no more, it seemed, than The Links. Rates are a bit steep at the top-end of the rack rates, but might be able to find a deal (Twilight rates are good).
Low Country Resort Golf at its Best
Tom Fazio's first solo design. It's been renovated recently, with greatly expanded greens. 6503 yards from the tips, but plays longer due to sea-level elevation and ocean winds. Final two holes are the climax -- both right on the beach. 18th is a pretty par 3; used to be a par 5 before hurricane washed it out. A bit pricey at the top-end rack rate, but if you can get a deal, well worth it. Lots of OB/hazards (and gators), but very fun to play. Pace of play rating is low due to a bad foursome in front of us -- non-golfers comped a round by another resort because of a screw-up. Still, it was a very long round.
Tight, but fair
Course has long par 4s and 6 par 3a. Par 5's we relatively easy. Very windy day which made back nine tough. Greens rolled very good.
Course has no driving range to warm up on.
Hidden Gem
Coarse was in great shape. Fairways were green. View was nice. Wind and difficulty on back nine made it very challenging.
First time I played here in about 3 years and was amazed by the excellent condition, particularly the greens. Although quite firm, the putting surfaces were absolutely perfect....fast, smooth and true. The last three holes were renovated a couple of years ago (#18 changed to a par 3 from a par 5 due to beach erosion and the green on #16 enlarged), and made for a great finish. This course has a fabulous collection of par 3 holes, and although the overall length of the course is short by today's standards it is still challenging and very fun to play. Wind is typically a factor due to proximity to the ocean. Can't wait to go back real soon.
Lots of single players, having to let them through was inconvenient. The course should have paired them up.
Worth the trip!
Loved the last few holes that end along the Ocean. Picture worthy! Very well maintained track. I had a great time here! My only knock was the $150 fee, somewhat expected and I don't like to knock a course on it's price, but felt a little overpriced on the whole.
Links Course
Excellent conditions. New carts. Scoreable par 5's. Love holes #5, #13 and #18 in particular. All staff were great!
Harbor Course
Fun golf course. Great scenery along the intracoastal waterway! Conditions were excellent
Fun in December
Very good condition for December, sunny and 70 degrees. All but a few spots on the greens were very good. Sand trap condtions varied considerably from "wet with hardpan under ball to fluffy in others. Pace of play was good even though very busy due to the beautiful day. As a threesome we waited in many shots as the groups ahead were foursomes. We still finished in about four hours. Good value at $55 price I paid for range, cart, and 18 holes. Overpriced at regular prices.
Good Course among Community
With water and housing along the fairways the course balanced challenges and opportunities.
Good course but Too expensive
