Great Course
MB is a great course in excellent condition. The greens are in perfect shape.
Nice scenic course. Sets up good for a draw almost throughout. Greens above you a lot of times. I feel like some of the greens were smaller than I am used to hitting to around my hometown but all of them rolled pretty true. Didn’t have my best day but didn’t find it that hard to stay out of trouble, and ended up shooting in the low 80’s. Pretty pleased overall, saw a lot of deer and turkeys too.
Perfect Challenge
Gorgeous course with several risk/reward opportunities. Phenomenal greens...
Great Round
Course was in great condition. Fairways were smooth and greens were near perfect. Best round of my life despite the 95° heat :)
Very good course
The course was in very good shape despite the wet conditions. The greens are in the excellent shape. Some of the tee boxes could be better. Will definitely play again.
Beautiful mountain course
Great course interesting elevation changes. My only complaint is the par 5s are too short. The par 3s are very challenging and make up for it.
Fun Yet Challenging Course!
I recently played here in a golf tournament and was very impressed. The bermuda greens were smooth and in great condition considering how cold the winter has been. The fairways were well cut and had no dirt patches. The driving range and practice green were also in great condition. Overall, I think this course is great for the price and would certainly recommend it.
Winter golf
After a very wet start to the year, the course, including the greens were very payable. Layout is challenging, yet not tricked up.
Mr. Graham
I was very pleased with the greens and the challenge of the course. I wished the outside rest rooms were open and the snack bar, however, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Great course in very good condition
Both the fairways and greens were in great condition and despite the course being pretty busy we moved at a decent pace. Only a few holes demand pinpoint accuracy off the tee so as long as you're semi straight this will be a fun round. Greens were rolling true at a med/fast pace. Really enjoyed my round. It's a must play course.
lack of course policing
Played this course today and was disappointed that there was no course marshal on the course. I got behind a threesome that was all over the course. Every time I waited for them to get off the green before I played, I would catch up to them at the next tee box and have to wait for them to get at least 3 strokes out before I could tee off. They would not let me play through. I actually had a threesome (female) catch up with me by the last 3 holes. A course marshal might have helped with this issue. It took over 4.5 hours to play 18 holes.
Great course
Definitely a must play course, it's a well laid out course, absolutely beautiful scenery
Montgomery Bell is a solid track
This course has a challenging layout for all levels of golfers. From the tips you need to be able to work the ball all 3 ways, left to right, right to left and of course straight. Conditions of the greens were very good. Fairways had plenty of grass but due to the lack of rain / watering they were very firm so plan on the ball rolling out a ways. The ladies tee boxes could use some work. If you like a semi mountain course, tree lined fairways and a good challenge it is worth the drive and the money. Take bug spray and drink plenty of water. The trees block the wind on most holes.
Underwhelming & Average
Maybe I expected a bit too much for a Tennessee State Park golf course, but at the time I played, this was the top reviewed course on GolfAdvisor for the Nashville area.
The course: bland, lifeless holes without much character or true design. Not particularly challenging. The conditions: average at best. Current rate near $46 is too high for the current conditions. Greens were abnormally slow
Staff was friendly and I am sure everyone working there is making the place as good as it can be, but the course is, for the most part, average.
That said, we saw plenty of wildlife (turkey, deer, etc.) and there were some pretty holes with nice views. But, I wouldn't say this is anywhere near the top course in the Nashville area, but rather, a course slightly better than the average municipal course.
Had a great time
Great course. Some kill in the fairways but all and all a good time and worth driving to Burns. Lots of wildlife and beautiful
