Reviews
Greens had recently been aerated which wasn’t publicized and there was no reduction in price due to them being in bad shape. Fairways had several bare spots as well. Second time for playing this course and have been disappointed both times . Probably will not play again.
Solid Course in State Park
Very picturesque course, winding through the hilly state park. Great pace of play. A challenging but forgiving course as well. Great play for the price.
Great Greens
The fairways were in pretty good shape. Some of the “rough” areas around the greens were still pretty bare perhaps to to the drawn out, wet, winter that seemed to last forever this year. I only played the back 9 but these were some of the best greens I’ve played on anywhere. A few appeared to not have even a single blemish. I’m anxious to play here again.
Spring is bringing the course to perfection
The greens are in and fast but very receptive. The fairways are still coming in but very very thin with a lot of muddy spots from the weather. This has also caused the rough to be not so rough which makes the course wide open.
Great Track
Always an awesome day at Montgomery Bell. Conditions were good considering the weather that’s been through here the last month. I will now wait until everything is bloomed out.
A must play!
State park course
If you love a small challenge this course is great. Pace of play could have been better but it wasn't bad. This is one of two local courses for me it's always a toss up as to where I will play
Great Day on the course
Weather was nice and even though it 90 degree on the fairways, the course was in very good shape. Greens were a little slower than usual, but rolled true. Montgomery Bell is always a great course to play.
Good 9
The course was in very good shape and still relatively dry despite the 20 minute rain delay after two holes. Leaves are starting to fall onto the greens but this a sign of the season with the heavily wooded layout. I’m looking forward to playing here again.
Well worth the trip
Course was in great shape. Greens rolled really good and held well placed shots. Fairways were immaculate. Well worth the 50 or so minute drive from Nashville. Played in a little over 4 hours 20 minutes with an 11:00 tee time. Will definitely recommend this course to friends back home.
One of the best values ever
I was in town for the weekend and played based on the reviews. This course was such a great value and in such an amazing location that I will come back to Nashville just to play here.

Lovely course
Had a great time. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Well stocked pro shop and halfway house for food. The course is well maintained and the design offers many strategic decisions for the better player as well as the ability to lay up and play the visible fairways for the slightly less confident. You definitely need a course layout guide as many holes have blind tee shots. The greens had just been aerated and sanded so they were a bit bumpy but that has to be done and will facilitate the smooth greens you expect on this course.
All the players we met on the course were very friendly. We were a twosome paired with another twosome. They were pleasant but had a leave suddenly after 6 holes. The joined with the twosome behind us and they were great guys (retiree father and son).
All around great experience and I'd highly recommend the course to all. A Country Club feel rather than just a golf course.
Beatiful course
Located out in the middle of a state park, this course was probably the prettiest course I have played in a while. The course itself is not too challenging, but the greens are very difficult. Totally immersed in nature, you will see lots of wildlife and very quiet. Not too expensive, very friendly staff, arrive early as it takes a long time to get there.
Great Deal
This course was well worth the drive from Nashville. Very quaint and quiet course, wildlife views and a well maintained tree lined course. Sometimes my playing partner and I only heard the birds chirping. Putting greens were trickier than you would think, but were very well maintained. It was easy to book and you could book for one player if you're in Nashville on business or a convention.
Great offseason conditions and challenging but playable layout
The course is in excellent shape for early February. Greens had a few marks that people didn't fix and were pretty sandy, but they played very fair. Everything else was browned, but that's to be expected, and rough and fairways were still maintained to proper lengths.
The layout was interesting and challenging without being unfair or overly difficult. For example, there are many holes with pretty drastic elevation changes (i.e. hitting from a tee to an elevated landing area) but none felt gimmicky or silly. All very believable and playable. The greens didn't play very fast, but I heard they can be brutal during the season.
friendly
Greens are in great shape. Bunkers have been redone and are in good shape as well. Staff very friendly. Pace was steady for a weekend round.
