Bright and Tight
I had played the course many years ago; this time was really like a first time. The course is lovely, quite wedged into limited terrain between hills with a creek meandering through the valley and coming into play many, many times. While not overly difficult, there are many small targets due to the terrain and creek. Conditions were excellent, greens nice, rough trimmed but still enough to make the fairway matter.
The value -- regularly $79 w/ cart -- was improved by a GolfNow hot deal!
woodstock
The staff was extra friendly, and helpful. Fromm tee boxes to greens the course was pristine. If is well worth the drive to play. Better to stay there the place looks great.
A Great Day in Woodstock VT
We enjoyed our round at WCC and met a new friend. We will come back again.
Beautiful course, not too difficult, lots of water.
Had a great time. Lost a few ball. Pace of play was good , finished in just over 3 hours. Great value with golf.now!!
Unique course in a beautiful setting
I love Woodstock country club. The course is always in great condition and is very unique. Six par 3s and four par 5s make it interesting. The creek runs through the whole course and makes for some trouble and some interesting holes. It is not as much of a mountain course as some of the nearby courses as it is pretty much all set down in the valley so it does not have as many of the amazing scenic views as some Vermont courses, but it's a great course and worth it to play.
Mixed Bag
I played as a single and chose the time because I expected to be paired with a threesome. The threesome did not show so I was left to play as a single. When I caught the threesome in front of me after one hole, the pace was dreadful. The course itself was in good shape but the bunkers were very inconsistent. The par threes, of which there are many, seemed to all require the same club. The course is unnervingly short and the creek that weaves through the course makes it tricky for a first time player. If you like to bomb the ball, pass on this one.
Not long. Many challenges
As a visitor to the area I researched golf options and golfed Woodstock initially because I could for only $25 with cart through Golf Now. I have since gone back several times. There are 6 challenging par 3's that require careful read of the usually downhill putt. The first 8 holes involve shots over a wide stream. Balls are easily retrieved if miss-hit into the hazard-done more than I care to admit! Course conditions, from tee boxes to fairways to sand bunkers are excellent. While I achieved some of my better scores on this course, it wasn't without having to make some difficult chips, many tricky putts and more than a few well placed drives. It is a fun course. I will definitely go back.

We are so glad you enjoyed our challenging course and were pleased with the course design. Please come back and bring some friends. Mention you review on Golf Now and recieve a free bucket of balls to warm up at the range.
A Sunday at Woodstock
The course is relatively short, even from the blue tees (just over 6000 yards), but fairly tight. If you hit it straight, you can score. The staff is very welcoming.

I am glad to hear you received a warm Woodstock welcome at he Country Club. It can be very challenging for a short course and we hope to see you again. Mention this review and receive a free bucket of range balls on your next visit.
Fun course, interesting history
Great old course, just wish there was a little more space between some of the holes.

Yes this is 120th anniversary at the Woodstock Country Club and we to wish we had a little more real estate to work with at times. I am happy to hear you would recommend this course to others and hope to see you on our links again. Mention this review and receive a free bucket of balls to use at our practice facility.
needs a couple of tweeks
everything about the course was positive with two exceptions.
(1) a course of this stature should definitely have GPS on their carts
(2) pairing up players of unequal ability make a miserable day for all concerned... the inferior as well as the more accomplished have nothing in common and makes the entire round a waste of time for all. Either pair up according to handicap, or better still, do not make arbitrary pairings at all.

We considered having GPS units on our new fleet of Club Cars, the cost was somewhat prohibitive. We do rent Bushnell range finders, so please inquire at the desk, I would be happy to demo one for you in the future. As far as pairing is concerned if you want to insure equal pairings then purchase all four tee times and bring some friends or use handicaps to insure a great golf match.
This course is challenging
Great course, very challenging. Pretty course. Pity that their is no good available after 3:00 pm. Send this Aldo includes the inn.
Course Condition
The course was in excellent condition. The tees, the fairways, the traps, and the greens were well maintained. There was a lot of rain the day before we played, and we were surprised how dry the course was for a 10:00 AM tee time.
Well maintained
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Would golf this course on a weekly basis if I could.
Lots of water hazards on this course!
Course was in great condition. It was very challenging with theater hazards you have get over.
Beautiful and challenging
4 played and it was a beautiful day. Used 2 carts, booked thru Golfnow.com and everything went very smoothly. So happy to find out about the site.
Great course in good condition
Older course design with several challenging holes and lot's of water hazards (the brook runneth through it). Doesn't favor the long hitter but rewards the shorter game and willingness to lay up sometimes. Friendly and helpful staff. For early May, course was in good shape.
Woodstock CC in Vermont
Everything and everyone were first class. The weather was also great
A fun course requiring a little shot planning
Really nice course....very helpful friendly staff. Quite a few streams/water crossing fairways, requiring a little course management and a nice challenge.
Great walk on a beautiful fall day...
Lovely little course, par 70 and a bit short but certainly challenging enough. Very lightly played resort course with great conditions. Bring your GPS as many hazards are difficult to see from tee. To quote the starter "hit it where you can see it!"
A gem in Woodstock
The course is deceptively short on the card but requires strategic placement off the tees to score and plays longer than the yardage. Carts do not have GPS. I found this very important for the first time player. The tees, fairways, and greens were in great shape. I found the par 3's very interesting. Definitely a thinking persons golf course with lots of forced carries over water. I highly recommend this course
Unfortunately we can not control the habits of others, the threesome that failed to show up and join you on your round. Perhaps you should book all 4 rounds and invite some friends to join you next time. As far as the par three's requiring one club, there are 6 and the yardages are 174, 151, 162, 150, 161 and 149 yards. I would say 3 clubs to be safe depending on wind conditions and your skill level. The sand in the traps was all replaced last season with the same sand for all the bunkers. However I do agree the creek can make the course tricky and you have to place your shots very carefully to score as Robert Trent Jones intended. Hope to get the challenge you and some of you friends in the future.
