Independence Golf Club is a premier public course west of Richmond with stay-and-play options as well as the capability to host your next event. The 18-hole Championship Course offers an exciting Tom Fazio challenge having undergone new renovations for faster rounds and healthier turf, while the 9-hole Bear Course can accommodate overflow play. For those who are interested in nontraditional golf, Independence boasts both Disc Golf and FootGolf options. The cottages and lodges on site are fully equipped with gorgeous views of the course for a serene stay away from home. Independence includes seven different conference rooms and suites with coordinators who can help organize casual to elaborate business events. Nearby amenities include a physical therapy treatment center, Canopy Adventure Park, and art programs for all ages. Independence offers golf schools with professional coaches and new technology to help all golfers meet their goals.

Nice coursev
The course was very nice and I had a good time playing it. Being a semi-private club it had some nice amenities and the club fitting trailer was very nice.
I would recommend it when in Richmond.
Terrific Course
Great layout with generous fairways but punishing rough. Greens were in amazing condition! very fast but ran true. Loved it.
Disappointing for a Saturday.
Course was in great shape from the Mid-Am. Practice facility always in great shape. No bev kart or halfway house open on a beautiful Saturday. If you’re gonna claim to be the tip of the spear and charge $150+ for a round then the spear needs to always be sharp.
Value not there
I have been playing this course for many years. After ownership changes price has continuously gone up to where value isn't there. Local courses during the week are around $50-70 for 18 holes. This short course is well kept but my last visit 2 holes didn't have cups so flag was on ground next to green, never any water! Used to be $15 during week and $25 on Sat-Sun. $40 is just not worth it.
Fast Greens
Greens were fast and the rough was coming up. Course is hosting the state open in a week.
One of my favorite tracks in the area.

Course seems to always stay in EXCELLENT condition.

The course was not as green and fluffy as it was last time I played it, but the manicure was great!! Now if they sold a golf game with the tee time it would be even better. Loved the course and loved the people. Thank you for a great experience.

Very nice layout and competitive course for a golfer who has played many courses across the US. Definitely a course I play when I’m back in Richmond area.
Fix the bunkers!
I know it’s rained a lot but several bunkers had completely washed out and collapsed! Several were completely unplayable! Course is challenging and nice otherwise.
