Gotta love golf now prices and choices of courses thanks golf now
Enjoy the views. You'll have plenty of time to admire nature.
A quality golf course. Unfortunately, extremely slow play and no course management. We quit after 12 holes of molasses pace and rode in on the cart path - only to see holes 13-18 unoccupied. Two foursomes completely clogged the course.
The course ranger was remarkably dense about the pace and was beyond rude if not completely confrontational when we pointed out the slow play.
Will not return.
Beautiful area
Went with my 3 year old son to play Palmer. The course was packed so I asked about playing The Jones course instead. It was wide open and we had a great day
Very nice course.
Always in great shape. Played here many times never gets old. All around always a good time.
Slow - but nice afternoon for golf
several slower groups ahead - played through,
Course was a fun round
great course
Love every Palmer course I've ever played, this one is no exception. Play there once or twice a year. Pace of play on that Saturday afternoon however became unbearable for me.
Will never be back
Took our annual 20 man buddies trip here for 3 days of golf and the golf courses were top notch but the staff screwed up our billing and demanded we pay more for our last day there, so we said see ya, thought it was bush league for them to ask us to pay more for their mistake.
Crispin in Feb
The course was more than serviceable given it was mid-February. Greens need to be rolled which I anticipate they'll do here soon. The course was in great shape for it being moddlenof winter and the staff was friendly as always. Great value for this hidden gem at Oflebey resort. Sure the Palmer and Jones courses provide majestic layouts but for the $$ Crispin is an excellent test.
Excellent Day
The weather was great, the course was great, and so was the service.
Great value
This might be the best shape the course has been in all year. Very few golfers playing on a beautiful day so I had plenty of time to hit an extra shot or putt. Greens were rolling very true. An excellent day of golf
A beautiful, mountain course, with difficult greens
Got a hot deal at $18, versus the rack rate of $69. Course may be a little overpriced at $69, as a lot of tee boxes are showing signs of heavy play. Greens , particularly on the back 9 are treacherous, do not get above the hole and expect to 2 putt. . #17 is borderline unfair, as drives all funnel into the rough, and the green is severely sloped.
Cart personnel and refreshment lady were great, and friendly. Course will shut down soon for Winter, try and snag a hot deal if you can this Fall.
Poor course management
Call before you go! We went on 10/10/16 for a 1:44 tee time. We were informed due to frost they were running an hour and forty five minutes behind. I didn't have frost at my residence so, had no clue. I realize they can't control the weather but also notice that they overbooked the course as groups were waiting for carts causing more delay. Evidently they don't have marshals on the course as at #7 tee there were 5 groups waiting to tee off. We were only able to get 14 holes in before it was too dark. I doubt that I will return.
Must Play
Not up to their standards is my guess. Heat has impacted current conditions at Oglebay. Even at sub par conditions, still one of my favorite tracks! Have played here several times this year.
Becoming burned out
I know there is no water on the course so they can't control the fairway condition. But greens are really rough also. Recently aerated so be aware.
Tough, a little beat up
Have played this course numerous times, but this was the first time in years. It's not my favorite course, simply because at times it can be flat out unfair - grass cut too low in certain spots and you are penalized for hitting fairways. This time around the greens were pretty beat up and it looked like they aerated somewhat recently. Fairways were shredded, not sure what had happened - not just bare spots, but multiple GUR locations. Booked online and it was a decent deal at $19 for 9 holes. Palmer/Wheeling CC significantly nicer.
The course was great
the staff was extremely friendly and helpful
We had a ranger when we were there this past week. We was ridding around pushing people and we got the round done in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. I think they may have fixed this issue or at least maybe there were better people working when I went than during your experience
