Amazing...
Amazing condition after last summers drought and a extremely cold winter. 5 stars.
Great at a discount
For the deal I was able to get this at it was a great course to play. Plays long for me, but very fair. Course is always in a good shape. The only problem is that regular rates have skyrocketed to $119-$129 and for locals that just isn’t worth it. I’ll play it again at a discount but last year was the least I had played it in the last 5 years. Probably only twice if memory serves me right. Need to make it more reasonable for the locals who could carry the income for the course.
Challenging but fun
Some tough sloped fairways, difficult to hold a good shot at times. That being said, will be back to see if I can tackle those few issues.
Scenic challenge
A fun and challenging course, however a lot of target holes, where laying up is a must.
Late season round.
The staff here is really good. The course is a little difficult because of the drought this year but it should bounce back and be just as good as ever. If you like hiily with some large greens and a fun layout give it a try.
Crispin
The course was in ok shape, but the fairways were overcut and nothing stayed even close to where you hit it.
Greens were in good shape, few scalped or fungi places on a few.
Very fun challenging course
Course was very well maintained and loved the hillside fairways. I played on a Monday and no ranger that day. Foursome infront of us added an extra 90 mins to our 18 holes. For a course of this caliber, it should have a ranger everyday.
Not a good experience
Played this on a Friday morning in September as part of a package at the Oglebay Resort.
Took close to 6 hours to play the Jones course which I had played previously.
The layout and conditions were just okay, but they jam too many players out there and made no attempt to speed up play.
Between the 6 hours here and the beyond horrific condition of the Crispin Course which we played the following day, it was not a good experience
My group of 8 guys will never be back and will tell people to avoid the place.
Course needs big-time help.
Played the Crispin Course as part of a package.
Stayed in one of the Resort's cottages. Played the Jones course one day, Crispin the next.
Crispin course was in horrible condition. Worse than any muni course I have ever seen.
5+ hours to play what was basically a dirt lot.
Will never go back.
Crispen Golf
They had just aerated the fairways and the plugs had not been collected. The course should have been closed. I’d like my money back.
The fairways had been aerated same day. The plugs were not yet removed..
We were not informed that the fairways were being aerated. The plugs were still on the ground making the course almost unplayable. Our money should be returned.
I grew up on this course. U knew it had no water except at the greens. But, It was almost unplayable as we had to place our ball on every shot. The greens were damaged. It should have been closed until the work was done. We drove 2 hours for this very poor experience. I would hope by Spring the course will be healed. Really, I’d like my money back.
