The course was ok but it is diffently like the lil step sister/brother of the 3 courses up there. Make sure you bring your own drinks and snacks if you need because they don't have any. The course itself was in ok shape considering the greens hadn't healed fully from being plugged. There are plenty of other better options for 20$ less a round 30 mins in any direction.
Tough but fair
A lot of elevation changes force you to control every club in the bag. Most fairways are thick tree-lined but good shots often won’t find the trouble. All par 3s play significantly shorter. Head winds will be an issue in the valleys.
Solid 18
Solid 18 holes that require every shot in the bag. Drastic elevation changes with some swirling winds make the short approach shots even more of a challenge.
Tough but fair
Good shots are rewarded. Greens rolled smooth. Only issue really isn’t course problem but there are changing winds that can be hard to account for.
A very enjoyable track
I enjoy sound reviews that are relevant to the quality of the conditions on the golf course.
I’ll do my best.
Course-
Spectacular topography flows comfortably through 18 holes, there are no holes begging to fit within the design.
Green Complexes are stellar, very healthy, usually fast but November Golf means November green speed, shaggy tee boxes and fairways.
Understood going in, rating it in November, Solid 9/10.
I have never cared about staff, restaurant menu, pace of play, etc. Give the best available conditions whenever possible.
Perfect Fall Day
Great day. Course was quiet. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Went over scorecard and course tips before I started. Cart was new and spotless.
Course in great shape. Fairways excellent. Carpet like and greens extremely consistent.
Fall leaves and mountain layout makes for visually great round. Lots of elevation changes.
Course is hard. Lots of target landings not just distance. Lots of up and down but not over the top. Unless you are a very good golfer you will lose balls. If you play from Blues you will barely miss fairway and be punished. Whites are a bit more forgiving. Front is longer. Back is more about elevation and pretty Par 3s. Greens and approach shots are reasonable and rewarding.
Can’t wait to play here again. It’s hard and challenging but lots of fun. Again the blind shots and narrow fairways will eat up balls but it’s worth it.
May try to play again this week !
Challenging layout
This is a great mountain layout with terrific scenery. Pick your tres wisely and enjoy the challenge
Hidden Gem!
One of my favorite courses to date! Absolutely gorgeous and well maintained course!!! Very difficult as I played by myself and was my first time, the different elevations and tiers of the greens make it incredibly difficult! I absolutely love this course and plan to be back again this year!!! Highly recommended
Outstanding Mountain Golf
Top notch mountain golf here at Woodhaven, 1 of 3 courses at the Glade Springs resort. Extreme topography with many blind approaches depending on location in fairway. In very good shape, doesn’t look like it gets much play. Every bit the 133 slope from the white tees. Love this stuff!!!
One of the best & hardest course in WV
Course is a beast- but an absolute beauty!!! Considering it's price point- I'm convinced it's one of the better values in all of golf- that said- some crazy lawsuit battle is going on & they aren't allowed to sell any food or beverages at Woodhaven- some quarrel with the main resort. The main resort did run over some beers to us- which was super appreciated- but they need to figure that out sooner rather than later. Overall 100% worth it great course in Excellent shape- you'll be hard pressed to hit your handicap here- JP
Excellent layout
Played the blue tees at 6500 yards. A lot of forced carries over 225 at this range. Elevation changes really shorten the Par 3s and allow for 2 drivable Par 4s. Staff was great, scenery was excellent, and it is well worth the price.
Long par 4’s
Multiple long par 4’s. For example, hit a perfect drive on one and still had 220 to the green.
Great day for golf
The course was in really good condition for winter conditions. The weather was really nice but it was cart path only. That was the only thing that I didn’t like about the round.
Mountain golf with fall foliage
Beautiful venue,
mountain golf course
Some spectacular par three holes.
You must keep the golf ball in fairway. The pro shop warned against looking for golf balls in woods. Copperhead snakes.
There are a lot of blind shots that if you hit in to rough you could lose your golf ball on what you thought was a good shot
I suggest playing forward one set of tees. I am a 12 index and played the white tees and it was enjoyable yet challenging round
The number one handicap hole on front nine is really tough.
8000 steps using a cart and following 90 degree rule on fairways.
I would definitely play this course again.
Majestic course all to myself
A bit worried driving up as not many cars were in parking lot.
10:30 tee time and staff told me nearest group teed off -an hour before me. Didn’t catch them until hole 11.
Very challenging course, be prepared to lose golf balls. Beyond that beautiful scenery and landscape of course. Greens were decently maintained but could have been better.
If I ever make my way to West Virginia again I will seek out this course.
Well designed mountain course
This course was well designed with great views and challenging play. Some turf maintenance issues are developing on tees, fairways and greens. Glad to see green aeration was recently done. Unfortunate that many players are Not fixing their ball marks and divots..but would play again.
Challenging course.
Woodhaven is a very challenging, mountainous, picturesque course. Not for your high handicapper or short ball hitter. Some turf maintenance issues are developing on tees, fairways and greens. Many players are Not fixing digits which is unfortunate.
mountain course
I have played this course numerous times and it becomes a little easier each time, because of the fact that there are numerous blind tee shots. It can be a little frustrating when you play it the first time due to the blind tee shots. It would be helpful if they had GPS on the carts, but they don't!
Great tight course visually beautiful
Course was path only from previous day, but in good condition, considering recent weather conditions. Course is beautiful, but can be visually intimidating. Focus on landing areas and keeping ball in play in key. Very enjoyable course
