Daily Video Tips

I get handsy, do you control these shots by moving your chest?
Hello Robert, I don’t control the shot with my chest, but I don’t stop my chest, either. Your chest wall rotate a little bit during the backswing and will rotate through the shot, as well.
Hi Martin - love your work - I notice you are not breaking your wrists on these shots. Is there a situation were you would be using a more wristy action for one of these chips?
Hello Angus, thanks for the kind words. I would get a little bit more wristy if I was hitting a flop shot or a bunker shot. Perhaps you can scan golf pass for an example of that. Take care.
Good tip, thanks.
Thx 🙏🏼
It appears that your lie is on a little longer grass. If you were on a very tight lie, what club would you use?
I would use the same clubs. You either flight it high, or run it a little lower.
In a rough lie, short sided where I have to take my 58 to get over a bunker and stop quickly for some reason this shot does all that but flys right of target. Feels good off the face and gets nicely but I’m left with a longer putt. Should I play as a cut or what do you think?
Arthur, it sounds like you need to him a little bit more to the left :-) there’s a golf ball is flowing nicely, but going to the right, I am your technique a little bit more to the left.
Thanks much!
Great tip, as are all your golf tips (have really helped me! Playing off wiry Bermuda rough here in Florida, would you make any adjustments? Thanks again.
DanG
Daniel, wiry Bermuda grass is really tricky. Either, grip the handle tightly and expect to collect a lot of grass before and after you touch the ball or put the ball back in your stance and have a steeper strike angle into the back of the ball.
Thanks Martin. Will give it some practice.
You made both those shots look simple! I would be upset I ended up it that spot but making par with a tap in from a tough spot to even a harder pin placement gives us all hope! Your the best and again thanks for making us all better golfers!!
Tomas, thanks for the kind words. Some days we are the windshield and some days we are the bug. Gratefully, I was able to hit these shots. Trust me, I miss plenty:)
I keep hitting into the ground on most clubs, my practice swings, I take huge divots, plus the divots start about 2-3inches behind the ball. Not sure what I am doing that I dig into the ground on wedges, irons, and even woods.
Hi Charlie, it sounds to me like you need time with a coach. Ultimately, the circle of our inclined swing needs to touch the ground just underneath and after the golf ball. Your swing circle is too vertical, steep. Or, your weight stays on your trail foot too long.
Good stuff. Sometimes while practicing chips and pitches I begin to hit low spinning shots to the right (right-handed golfer). These are not shanks, but the face of the club must be presenting wide open and its psychologically devastating. Any thoughts?
How far off line if you are 5 yards off the green and have 30’ to the cup?
what kind of ping irons you recommend for a 18 hcp.
Hi Bart, I play Honma clubs. Fantastic! If I were you, I’d try the TR21 model.
