Excellent demonstration.
Thanks!
It would be useful to know the range of bounce degrees....and maybe what pro's use and what you'd suggest for mid handicappers
Great question Fred. The bounce can range from 6-14 degrees on average. Tour pros tend to use lower bounce as it allows them to open the club face and keep the leading edge low. They also tend to play on firmer surfaces so low bounce is ideal there also. Mid handicappers tend to do best around 10 degrees of bounce, it adds a little more forgiveness around the greens and they don’t usually try to hit specialty shots around the greens with the face open. Where you live also plays a roll. If you live in swampy Florida with grain a high bounce wedge can be your best friend. If you live in arizona with hard sand as soil with lots of tight lies the. Low bounce option is better.
Very helpful.
Great explanation and demonstration. I've being playing for several decades and I really was never clear why/what I was doing with the bounce. Thank you
