Blair O’Neal explains when and how to hit the bump-and-run chip shot. Use a narrower stance and a shoulder-rock motion to get the ball rolling quickly and control distance more predictably.

I think of a "bump and run" as a shot that takes 1 or 2 bounces before the green. A much tougher shot to master. The tip here is more of a variation of a standard chip. I would like to see a tip on a true bump and run.
more often i use 8 or 9 depending on the grass and distance to the hole.
What club was used
Would you use a different club to control distance. Yours ran 20 ft past the hole. Yesterday I used a 50 deg and rolled 5ft past which I would have to make for par.
Blair, I was taught that a bump & run in a further out shot where you hit the ball into the front of the green, it hits the face of the green which forces the ball up over the edge and rolls out on the green. Isn’t this a chip shot?
Might be the best Bonebrake tip - I'm actually going to try this tomorrow
Where on the club face are you trying to hit the ball?
