Early extension often starts before the swing even begins. Shaun Webb explains how setup and weight position can make it harder to rotate, then shows a simple wall drill to help you get balanced at address and prevent early extension.

Sean, with my driver at address the teed ball is closer to the heal of the club. Often when I strike the ball it’s off center towards the toe of the club. Any thoughts or videos on what could change the distance to the ball during the swing would be appreciated.
Great tip. I take lessons and have seen in video I suffer from early extension. My solution was always to push the hips back at address! Seems counter intuative not to do that- but your explanation makes sense. Thanks.
Shaun, Could that be what leads to the dreaded shanks? I had a good round started and felt confident with my swing but suddenly started shanking it. The drives were fine but my iron game fell apart. I felt like my body was leaning in but I struggled to fix it during the round. What’s a mid-round fix to combat that issue?
Very helpful. I’ll try it at home (the wall) and the range today. The role of the hips is something I need to better understand.
Awesome tip!! Once you do this euogh times it will become second nature! This has been one of my set thoughts for a long time and you my friend simplified it here! Thx !!
thank you , I am going to try this today! Lord knows I needed to watch this! :)
