Would appreciate an explanation of lag putting as you demonstrated the lag put towel drill
Lag putting to a towel is a staple drill, seen a lot. It takes pressure off visually bc your goal is to land the ball on the towel. If you can achieve this the theories you shld always be left with something inside five feet for your second putt if you take away the towel
Love all the experienced instructors, but especially the Ladies, helping me improve.
Thank you for watching !
Thanks 4 this video - very helpful - Hope you will take this same theory & extend it to show technique in a full swing
It is a good tip! Thank you. The full swing the club does work to the inside however. But you can visualize it on the down.
Very nice tip
Thank you.
Sorry, but I don't understand when you say keep the club in front of the shaft. Can you explain that differently? When I watch the swing of Debbie I see that she starts with her hands forward and it doesn't look like the club head beats her hands to the ball. Is that what you are trying to say?
thanks
Nothing to do with clubhead beating my hands on this one. It is a visual. Look from the target line view. Even though the words are covering the alignment rod a little, it is a feel to keep the clubhead, shaft, arms and hands in front of your chest back and thru vs wrapping too far to the inside. You may feel it with your arms and not the club. So the actual club therefore is staying on the outside of the rod. In front of it , not to the inside. If you swing to the outside and pull in on the way down maybe this isn’t for you. But you can see the arm extension as well.
thank you for your response, I see what you are saying.
Great tip - I think another important component is to still turn your body thru impact, many players get stiff just using their arms
Yes agree 100%
As so often in the groups very useful and appreciated tips something I miss in most is this the type of lie and club being used is often not mentioned 60degree? 56 degree tight lie etc
Good point. I’m prob using my 56 or gap for a standard pitch. Not my 60 to demonstrate. Too tough of a club for many amateurs
Debbie: which wedge were you using with this 40 yd pitch?
Must be a 56 or gap
These short pitches are usually made with a more lofted club such as sand wedge or lob wedge. Try experimenting and see which club works best for you.
What club are you using for a 40 yard pitch shot?
Has to be a 56/gap. I wld not demonstrate with my 60 bc often that’s too hard of a club for most amateurs to be consistent with their strike and loft
These short pitches are usually made with a more lofted club such as sand wedge or lob wedge. Try experimenting and see which club works best for you.
Good stuff here for the short game, thanks!
Great. Welcome.
