Monster Golf Club at Resorts World Catskills

The name of the course says it all it’s the monster the place is silly long from the Tips too old for that I’ll take care of IV tea box course play is very challenging opening day surprisingly was today and the course played amazing greens are in wonderful shape. Tea boxes phenomenal fairways are in wonderful shape and in two weeks. They’ll be in better shape. Course is great. Never a miss the welcome at the pro shop is always fabulous. Great staff. The boys and girls will meet you at the tea dropping the clubs off always amazing. It’s good to see everybody. Thanks again very very much. Greenskeeper staff is doing a phenomenal job. Thanks again. The original Monster typified several of midcentury golf’s flaws. It was hellaciously long and difficult, it occupied swampy and low-lying ground and it happened to be located in a boom-area that went bust and is only starting to recover: The Catskills. When Resorts World took over the land formerly belonging to The Monster’s parent Concord Hotel, the course was reinvented by Rees Jones, using some of its original land and also borrowing from the neighboring International course. The Monster 2.0 is still a toughie that tips out at 7,300-plus yards, but it is both more playable and more functional than it used to be. A hilly front nine gives way to a flatter back nine with plenty of water in play – a nod to the old Monster. The course is still maturing but conditioning is solid, and the on-site hotel is well-priced and attractive to the casino crowd. It will take time for the Catskills to find its footing as a golf destination again, but this is a good step in that direction – a reasonably easy drive from New York and most of New England.

And over 7000 yards this place is no joke. Bring your a game bring your long game and even after pumping a drive off the tea you’ll still have over 200 in on a par four but don’t fret you don’t have to play from the tips you can select from T box 5 for three and is very inviting for all levels. Keep in mind that other people play the golf course and you wanna maintain a 4 1/2 hour round of golf the greens are very very fast and hard. Their ways are lovely sloped many undulations in the greens pin placements are always tough facility is always in phenomenal shape from Tee to green bunkers lovely, fairways could use a little love 🙏tee box were in wonderful shape. 🍀Greens were in phenomenal shape running fast and true as I love them 😍 the welcome where you greeted and the shuttle down to the course is just a pleasure always friendly the staff that greets you and the caddy masters all take care of you very very well. The starter is just a gentleman can’t say enough just a wonderful experience at resorts world the monster played several times and look forward to playing soon again thanks very very much. Played this course maybe 10 years ago. What a difference. In gorgeous shape. Green were fast and true. Sand was great after raking. Staff was extremely friendly. Taking the shuttle was okay but would rather just drive the half mile to the course from the clubhouse. Got a great price would definitely play again.

Not the Monster of old...blend of the old international and monster courses combined with changes to the original designed....still a very solid track and worth your while to play

After reading the reviews I was extremely excited to play here. The course lived up to the hype! Top 3 courses I’ve ever played. Course was in perfect condition. Can’t wait to play here again.

Upon arrival to the lobby of the Alder Hotel resort next to resort world you greeted by a lovely staff, who is at the helm of the desk, greeting all of the excited golfers you are shuttled down to the course and are welcomed by excellent staff to take your bag and mount it to the car amazing The day we played there was no starter. Unfortunately lightning was in the area and suspended play on us was only able to taste seven holes, but they were just delicious. Absolutely fabulous golf course tough long from the tips your approach shot will be at least a mid iron in unless you’re a big eater and you hit the ball a long way great challenge for all I recommend bring your a game, not for the faint of heart and please play where you can handle it you’ll have a much more enjoyable time and you will control the piece of play properly on a golf course of this magnitude. Course is outstanding all aspects staff,layout,carts pace of play enjoyable day on the golf course highly recommend playing if you can

The golf course was in perfect condition Fairways, greens, tea boxes 10 out of 10 the staff friendliness was the best I've ever seen! High price.

The people were friendly, conditions were perfect, greens were tough but fair. I loved that there was multiple tee boxes. Definitely going to play it again!

Having played Bay Hill, Pinehurst, and Hilton Head I'd say I'm fairly qualified in judging a quality golf venue

The staff at The Monster could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Everyone from the folks who checked us in to the gentleman working the mowers were politely on-point.

The course is tough, but fair, with substantial risk/reward gains. Accuracy being key. You don't have to be a long hitter to score here. But you do have to stay in the fairway.. the greens can fool you but show me a PGA level course where that isn't so. I am not a gambler per say, but I would consider this a definite golf vacation destination. For those on a tighter budget keep an eye out for Golf Now deals. That's what I did and it was well worth it.

GPS on the carts was not working properly, could not get distances while playing and our golf watches didn't work on the course either

Course is way over priced and not that nice for what you pay.

I bought the tee time from golf now for 18 holes for 4:15pm

At the pro shop no one said at 4:15 it’s only 9 holes

The starter and the person helping me with my clubs said at 4:15 your only allowed 9 holes but no one said that until now

Other wise it was a perfect experience.
